Demand Apology for Heroic Doctor Told to Watch Her “Tone”

Target: Matt Hancock, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, United Kingdom

Goal: Apologize to politician and emergency room doctor for criticizing her tone during urgent COVID-19 discussions.

British member of parliament (MP) and doctor Dr. Rosena Allin-Khan was presenting evidence of the current British government’s failure to protect people with testing and supplies amid COVID-19 when she was outrageously told to watch her “tone” by Matt Hancock, the minister responsible for the coronavirus response. Dr. Allin-Khan has been working to combat the outbreak in London hospitals, and as such is uniquely well-qualified to criticize Boris Johnson’s failure to provide adequate protective clothing, disinfectants and medicines, or testing kits to doctors and the public.

When she asked Hancock whether or not his government was committed to testing 100,000 people a day until the danger had passed, she was condescendingly told to model her “tone” after that of a male colleague. Dr. Allin-Khan has refused to do so, instead demanding an apology for what is an utterly inappropriate way to speak to a doctor fighting daily to end the current pandemic. Sign the petition below to demand that Hancock apologize to this selfless doctor.

Dear Mr. Hancock,

While your administration has dragged its feet addressing the urgent needs of Britain during COVID-19, many heroic doctors and nurses have sacrificed their own safety to protect their fellow citizens. One of these happens to be your colleague in the House of Commons, Dr. Rosena Allin-Khan, whom you shockingly told to mind her “tone” when she asked a reasonable question.

You have no right to speak so incredibly rudely to Dr. Allin-Khan, particularly when the question she’d asked would have received no such reply had it been asked by a male MP.

I demand that you apologize for your remarks immediately and work to answer your fellow MPs’ questions openly and honestly in the future.

Mr. Hancock is obviously of the archaic, idiotic mindset that women are to be subservient to men in every way conceivable.

  2. Elizabeth Story says:

Mr.Hancock,I think it is you who should model your tone; this is no way to speak to Dr.Allin-Khan when she asked a pertinent question.
