Bring Justice to Jogger Who Was Reportedly Wrongfully Shot and Killed

Target: Tom Durden, District Attorney of Hinesville, Georgia

Goal: Bring justice to young man who was reportedly wrongfully shot and killed while jogging.

A 25-year old black man named Ahmaud Arbery was reportedly shot and killed by two white men while jogging in Brunswick, Georgia. Though the alleged shooters claim that they acted in self-defense, Arbery’s family doubts their motives. Demand that justice be given to this jogger.

Arbery was reportedly shot by Gregory McMichael and his son, Travis McMichael, who claimed to identify Arbery as the suspect for a string of robberies in the neighborhood. Upon seeing him run by, they reportedly grabbed a .357 magnum revolver and a shotgun and followed him in their car. According to police reports, they yelled to him, saying “We want to talk to you.” They then struggled over the shotgun, apparently resulting in Arbery being shot at least twice and dying. Arbery’s friends and family have been unable to publicly protest his death due to social distancing restrictions and fear that the case will be forgotten.

No one has been charged or arrested for Arbery’s murder. Sign below to demand justice for Arbery by arresting the men who reportedly shot and killed him unless an act of self-defense can be proven.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Durden,

A black man was reportedly shot and killed by two white men while out jogging. Though the alleged shooters claim self-defense, this has yet to be proven. In the meantime, these apparent murderers walk free.

Many community members report that Ahmaud Arbery ran often for exercise. Other black men in the community, including Arbery’s football coach, Jason Vaughn, claimed that he too had been followed by a white community member while jogging. It seems likely that this man was singled out for his race.

I demand that you bring justice to Mr. Arbery by arresting his alleged killers until further evidence is found that warrants his death.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
