Stop Trump From Letting Millions Starve During Covid-19 While Food Rots in Fields

Target: Sonny Perdue, Secretary of the United States Department of Agriculture and Donald Trump, President of the United States

Goal: Don’t let millions of pounds of food rot in fields while food banks struggle to feed hungry Americans.

Millions of pounds of food are going to waste while food banks across the country struggle to feed newly jobless Americans due to Covid-19. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has failed miserably in putting this unsold food to use during this crisis.

Commodity groups, state leaders and lawmakers have repeatedly urged the USDA to develop a plan to buy surplus perishable food and connect it to food banks struggling to meet a surge in demand. In mid-April, a proposal to allot 3 billion dollars to connect the supply chain was finally agreed upon. However, the Trump Administration has been so slow to act, that it will likely be too late for states such as Florida that are nearing the end of harvest season.

Demand the USDA accelerate their efforts to buy surplus food and connect it with struggling food banks in order to help farmers and feed hungry people during the coronavirus crisis.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Secretary Perdue and President Trump,

You have been painfully slow to respond to the farm and food crisis, and as a result, millions of pounds of food rot in fields while millions of citizens go hungry due to food bank shortages.

I demand that you accelerate your efforts to buy surplus food and connect it to struggling food banks in order to help farmers and hungry citizens during this uncertain time.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

I agree, everything is Trump’s fault. As for the wasted food? what about all the free food given daily to people at their neighborhoods food drives, the food on wheels for the elder, the stimulus, small business relief and the free COVID testing. Is that Trump’s fault too? Don’t believe in “Fake News.” or you’ll become a democrat.

  3. Marie Wakefield says:

Look at the idiots who do not realize 45 is in charge of the USDA.
