Don’t Outlaw Women’s Healthcare During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Target: Mike DeWine, Governor, Ohio

Goal: Don’t use coronavirus as a misguided excuse to eliminate women’s right to choose.

In some states, abortion has been outlawed as “nonessential” in an effort to combat COVID-19. This move is eliminating basic human rights and access to women’s healthcare. Women’s health should not be used as a political bargaining chip or fear tactic during this pandemic.

Abortion is and always will be an essential surgical procedure, a basic right of women across the country. This is especially true now as women are losing their jobs and even their homes in this fight against the pandemic. They should not be forced to give birth to children they will be unable to care for, or children that may fall victim to this sickness. To do so won’t only rob them of their constitutional rights, but the rights of their child if born.

Ohio, Mississippi, and Texas have outlawed abortion in the face of the coronavirus. Demand that the government of Ohio overturn this ruling and protect the rights of women.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Governor DeWine,

Women across your state have been denied access to abortion due to the coronavirus. Their procedures have been deemed “nonessential.” Banning abortion will not prevent the spread of COVID-19. It will only rob women of their basic human right to choose.

Women need access to abortion now more than ever as millions lose their jobs and their homes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They should not be forced to have a child under these circumstances and should have their constitutional right to choose restored.

Sincerely,
