Halt Fracking Following Catastrophic Explosion

Target: John Bel Edwards, Governor of Louisiana

Goal: Investigate destructive explosion caused by fracking.

A natural gas well in Louisiana has exploded, emitting fossil fuel pollutants into the air. Scientists estimate that these toxic flames will burn for over one month. Sign the petition to demand that fracking in the state be halted until an investigation can be conducted.

Gas, frack fluid, and oil are now burning in Louisiana’s air. Although the state said the environmental impact is “low,” scientists disagree. They say more testing should be done as millions of living beings inhale these widespread fumes.

A thorough investigation should be done to ensure that such a disaster never happens again. Before moving forward with more fracking, the state must be able to answer: What caused the explosion? What chemicals are being leaked into the air? What are the environmental impacts? How can we stop a similar event from occurring?

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Governor Edwards,

An explosion at a fracking site recently rocked your state. For over a month, toxic flames are expected to fill the air. Oil, gas, and frack fluid are now being breathed in by millions of people and animals. The state is telling citizens not to worry, but scientists argue otherwise.

What caused this explosion? What are the implications? Before fracking can continue, before another disaster should occur, these questions should be answered. I demand a halt to fracking in the state until an investigation can be conducted.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

  1. Dr Lori Ugolik says:

Oil and gas are inhaled by millions of humans and wildlife

  2. All the questions asked in this article, such as “what chemicals are released in fracking” should have been asked BEFORE the whole project started. But of course that is never the case with most energy companies. Nothing seems to matter until the shit hits the fan!
