Brave Cat Who Survived Being Set on Fire Deserves Justice

Target: Andrew M. Gregson, District Attorney for Randolph County, North Carolina

Goal: Capture and punish the person who poured an accelerant on a cat and set her on fire.

A cat endured terrible agony when she was intentionally set on fire. She is the second local cat to have been tortured in this way, and many fear she may not be the last. Demand justice for this innocent animal.

“I couldn’t fathom how she was still walking. And as badly as she was burned, she still tried to love on me and still was purring,” stated Amy Johnson, an Asheboro resident. She rescued the cat, dubbed Cinderella, from a patch of bushes and immediately sought out veterinary care when she discovered the extensive injuries. A thorough exam showed torched hair, peeling skin, and a hole on the poor animal’s side that went straight through her body. Investigators believe that the perpetrator poured a flammable substance on Cinderella before setting her on fire.

Cinderella is recovering at a foster home and she is expected to survive. Randolph County authorities are investigating, but they have no suspects yet. Sign below to demand that the person responsible be prosecuted and punished.

Dear District Attorney Gregson,

Someone is setting cats on fire in Randolph county. Two felines were burned on or around the same day, indicating that this is a repeat offender. I demand justice for these innocent animals.

Cinderella lives every day in discomfort after she was doused in an accelerant and set on fire. The approximately 2-year-old cat suffered scorched hair, peeling skin, and a hole that went straight through the side of her body. Even so, she continued to wander the streets of Asheboro in an attempt to ease her endless pain. Thankfully, Cinderella has received treatment and she is expected to survive. However, at least one other local cat suffered similar horrific burns and had to be euthanized.

The person responsible for this cruelty is dangerous and they must be punished before any more innocent animals suffer. I demand that you prosecute them and seek the maximum penalty possible.
