Lollicupbluesmoothie

Target: George Burnett, owner of I Love Drilling Juice & Smoothie Bar

Goal:  Stop discriminating against liberals by charging them $1 more

Utah smoothie shop owner George Burnett has a policy where he charges liberals $1 more at the I Love Drilling Juice & Smoothie Bar. He then donates the proceeds of the liberal “surcharge” to conservative organizations like the Heritage Foundation, a right-wing thinktank. Sign the petition to condemn Burnett’s divisive and discriminatory policy and demand he rescind it.

Burnett is a pro-oil and gas activist and has drink names that reflect his beliefs. His drinks include “Drakes Well,” “Oil Creek” and “Old American.” He has a sign that charges conservatives $4.95, liberals $5.95 and Crew Team Members $3.95. Burnett claims he is attempting to make a point about fiscal policy stating, “We have a fiscal problem in this country. We’ve got to deal with it or we don’t have a country, so to kind of help make that point, just a little bit, I charge liberals just a little bit more. Really what I’m focused on is the fiscal differences between big government/small government and liberal ways, as far as entitlements and spending.”

Burnett’s policy has proved divisive and many on Facebook have already expressed their outrage. Burnett claims that the three liberals who have purchased at his shop did not have a problem with his policy. Nonetheless Burnett’s policy is divisive, discriminatory and offensive. Sign the petition condemn Burnett and demand he rescind the policy.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear George Burnett,

I am writing as a concerned citizen to condemn your policy of charging Liberals more for smoothies. In a time of great political rancor and partisanship, your policy is political, divisive and counterproductive. Despite the fact that I Love Drilling Juice & Smoothie Bar is your business and you may set whatever prices you wish, your policy is reminiscent of Jim Crow laws with different standards for different people.

While charging those who self-identify as liberals may not seem as serious, it is still an alienating policy that seeks to divide people based on what they believe. There are better and more productive ways to make your point about fiscal policy. I urge you to rethink and rescind your policy.

Sincerely,

All customers should be treated equally, fairly and respectfully. Without the customers there’d be no business at all to operate.
