Ban Fracking in the Fragile Delaware River Basin

Target: Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, Vice Chair of the Delaware River Basin Commission

Goal: Protect the Delaware River Basin from the damaging practice of fracking.

The Delaware River Basin is under threat from fracking, a damaging practice that extracts natural gas from beneath the earth’s surface. If fracking is allowed to dot the landscape of this region, fresh water for millions of people and animals would be polluted. The Governor of New Jersey is asking for a permanent freeze on the practice. Sign this petition to support him.

For eight years, a temporary moratorium has protected the fragile river basin, its endangered species, and its nearby citizens from the dangers of fracking. Now, state leaders are asking that this ban be permanent. Banning fracking will protect the water from pollution. It will protect the landscape from destruction. It will protect the animals from illness and even death.

Fracking has no place in the Delaware River Basin. Sign the petition to demand that a permanent ban be placed on fracking.

Dear Governor Cuomo,

After an eight-year temporary moratorium on fracking in the fragile Delaware River Basin, New Jersey’s governor is asking for a permanent ban on the damaging practice. Fracking has been shown to pollute water, cause earthquakes, and cause illnesses in both humans and animals. Millions would be put at risk.

I ask that you oblige the governor’s request. Protect the Delaware River Basin from fracking by banning the practice permanently.
