Justice for Pit Bull Mother and Puppies Reportedly Wrongly Put Down

Target: Ginger Nelson, Mayor of Amarillo, Texas

Goal: Punish an animal shelter for allegedly euthanizing a mother pit bull and her puppies just hours after birth.

An unfortunate mother pit bull was reportedly euthanized by a Texas animal shelter while she was in labor; her last act before expiring was to clean her newborn puppies, who were also put down only moments later. The tragedy happened months ago, in May of 2018, but the outrage and horror over what reportedly transpired remains strong. There have been no follow-up reports regarding the incident, or any consequences faced by the shelter.

Not only were an innocent dog and her puppies seemingly killed for no reason, but the incident was yet another attack on pit bulls as a species. For decades, these dogs have been portrayed as vicious killers and treated like a danger to society, with many states, cities, and neighborhoods legally banning the ownership of them. Animal rights groups have fought hard against these misconceptions and to save the lives of pit bulls wrongly put down due to being perceived as a threat, but to little avail. This alleged incident is just another injustice against the breed on a list already too long.

If the Amarillo Animal Management and Welfare facility needlessly killed these dogs, then they must be held accountable for their fates. Sign this petition to ensure the facility faces the consequences of their alleged actions.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mayor Nelson,

A mother pit bull and her babies were euthanized by the Amarillo Animal Management and Welfare facility, seemingly because they were pit bulls. The incident took place in June of 2018, but there have been no follow-up reports or any news regarding whether the shelter has been held responsible for their alleged actions. This is reportedly another example of needless cruelty against pit bulls on a list already too long.

You must see that this facility faces the consequences of their alleged actions. Pit bulls have been incorrectly labeled as vicious killers and dangerous threats to society, when any aggression on their part is the fault of humans who train them to behave that way. These innocent dogs were apparently put down solely for being pit bulls, and the shelter should not have gotten away with it. Hold them accountable and see the staff punished for allegedly ending these innocent lives.

Sincerely,
