Applaud Massachusetts Animal Cruelty Legislation

Target: Charlie Baker, Governor of Massachusetts

Goal: Applaud Massachusetts’ new animal cruelty legislation called PAWS II.

Animals will be better protected and their abusers more harshly prosecuted thanks to a new animal cruelty bill signed by Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker. According to House Speaker Robert A. DeLeo, the new provisions to the PAWS Act increases penalties for mistreatment, neglect, and cruelty and provides critical welfare protections.

The new PAWS II Act increases penalties for drowning animals, updates laws for animal sex abuse, increases penalties for operating a kennel without a proper license, allows cities and towns to enforce animal-in-car and dog-tethering laws, removes a mandate that animals involved in dog fighting be euthanized, and requires landlords to check their properties for abandoned animals. Sign this petition to applaud Governor Baker’s approval of the bill that provides better protection for animals.

Dear Governor Baker,

I wanted to applaud you for taking the steps necessary for providing a safer future for animals. Animals do not have a voice of their own, which is why it is so important for bills to be passed that protect these innocent animals. The PAWS II Act is a great step for protecting these animals and prosecuting their cruel abusers. Again, I applaud and thank you for taking action and standing up for the voiceless animals.
