Stop the Giraffe Body Parts Trade in U.S.

Target: Jim Kurth, Director of the United States Fish and Wildlife Service

Goal: Stop United States giraffe parts trade to save what remains of the population.

Fewer than 100,000 giraffes exist in the world, a shocking 40 percent drop since the 1990s. This is largely due in part to the booming giraffe parts trade in the United States, with such products as knives made of bone and rugs made of fur being sold in 52 separate locations for a grand total of tens of thousands of dollars.

There are currently fewer giraffes than elephants in Africa. Considering the state of the elephant population and the dangers they face, this is terrifying. These gentle, beautiful creatures are being slaughtered and made into luxury items for a profit rather than being appreciated for their beauty and allowed to live in peace. Poaching is one of the cruelest and most selfish acts of animal abuse there is; no amount of money is worth the lives of innocent creatures.

The giraffe population will continue to decline and eventually disappear forever if the United States does not stop the trade of their parts and the sale of luxury items made of those parts. Sign this petition to save what remains of these gentle creatures before it is too late.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Director Kurth,

The world’s giraffe population has dropped 40 percent within the past 20 years, partly thanks to the United States’ booming giraffe parts trade. Thousands of giraffes have died needlessly for their fur and bones to create luxury items, which are sold for tens of thousands of dollars in over 50 locations around the world.

You must stop this trade. Giraffes are beautiful and gentle creatures, and they do not deserve to die for the sake of money and luxury items. Less than 100,000 remain in this world; in Africa, their numbers are lower than that of the elephant, and elephants are already nearly extinct. Save the giraffe population from disappearing forever by putting an end to the trade of their parts.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

WOW US GOVERNMENT SHOULD GIVE A SHIT ….YOU ARE SETTING A DISGUSTING EXAMPLE WORLD WIDE!!! SOMEONE HAVE A HEART THERE? GIRAFFES ARE ANGELS…

  2. Please stop this!!! We will lose all of our wild animals at the poaching for profit rate!!

  3. meryl kelbrick says:

We point the finger that cause the initial atrocity then we trade like its incidental…we’re all hypocritical and need to ask questions just how things arrive at our front door and take issue.

  4. Get rid of Trump and elect a decent President who actually cares about preserving wildlife instead of being an imbecile and trophy hunting

    • Agreed. In fact, Trumps two eldest sons are pathological wildlife murderers, as that is the way they were raised to be. Trump has overturned previous presidents’ policies and laws to protect what is left of our planet’s precious wildlife. Donald J Trump is nothing more than a heartless, ruthless, narcissistic individual who cares nothing about animal rights, let alone human rights. I can only hope that Melania is raising her son to be everything his step brothers aren’t!

  5. Americans, go & read your history on Ivoryton & educate yourselves regarding the huge devastation your country has caused to African elephants. Now you’re big time into Africa’s giraffes… You wiped out your bison to about 300…

    • in your comment you’ve addressed an entire nation by the wrongdoings of some. That is both offensive and ignorant. There are more than 350 million people residing in the United States. Are you suggesting that all of them – or even most of them – are poachers and hungers? Poachers can be found in countries all across the globe. In other words, this is not an American issue … it’s a world issue.

  7. THE US ARE ERADICATING ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL AND UNUSUAL ANIMALS ON THIS PLANET. ARE YOU PARANOID, SADISTIC, DERANGED OR BOUNDLESS IDIOTS. STOP THIS DISGUSTING PRACTICE BASED ON GREED, IGNORANCE AND IDIOCY !! YOU DISGUSTING MORONIC HUMAN MONSTERS !!! STOP THIS MADNESS NOW !!

Kurth, We pay you to protect not to allow Torture, Greed and killing of innocent animals, if you can’t GET THE HELL OUT and take the ignorant, cruel, pathetic tRump with you!

There are fewer free-roaming Giraffes than Elephants. Both are dying off quietly and rapidly, while their lifes are being auctioned at the Dallas Safari Club, to mention just one such den of evil. Now, I would gladly join a “Hunt the Hunter Hunt Club” … when your target is armed and dangerous, that’s sport. And because hunters are a mixed menagerie of cowards, narcissists, psychopaths, imbeciles, etc. culling them would improve the human herd for sure.

  10. Virginia Penn says:

This is insane! Stop this NOW!
WE THE TAXPAYERS PAY YOU TO PROTECT the beautiful treasures that are wildlife, NOT TO EXPLOIT THEM!

  11. SHAME on you for CHOOSING to murder these magnificent animals — these animals have every right to live — we do NOT need giraffe products — we DO in fact NEED our giraffes! — what kind of a racket is this! — what kind of human engages in such depraved cruelty — the needless, horrific, sadistically unconscionable slaughter of these beautiful animals must be STOPPED — let’s get some rationality — let’s get some compassion — let’s get some morals — Throw these participants, poachers, these idiot-abusers and killers into rubber rooms and throw away the key — WHAT KIND of society is this? — CRIMES AGAINST ANIMALS MUST BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY — PUNISHMENTS & PENALTIES MUST BE SEVERE!! — We do NOT want repeats of these crimes – EVER!

  12. Pamela Smith says:

This is cruel and inhumane. These animals are majestic and need our protection.

  13. We are so quick to jusge the way other cultures and countries treat their animals. WAKE UP AMERICA is just as bad. It sucks the way we as a species treat other species with no regard for their well being. All for a knife handle or a coat. Every life is important and we as the supposed smartest specie should take care and enjoy the beauty around us instead we harvest abuse kill and sleep well at night. SAD DAY FOR HUMANITY> Our government could care less all they do well is tweet and line their pockets.
Advocate and keep it up til theses atrocities and the idiots who allow this behavior stops

  14. CAN PEOPLE JUST LEAVE OUR WILD ANIMALS ALONE FOR GOD’S SAKE??!! THEY HAVE JUST AS MUCH RIGHT TO LIVE, JUST LIKE WE ALL DO. KILLING ANIMALS FOR THEIR FUR, FOR THEIR BODY PARTS, OR FOR ANY OTHER REASON IS UNACCEPTABLE. THIS IS REDICULOUS. LEAVE OUR ANIMALS ALONE!!

  15. Karen Redd says:

These scumbag maggots have a knife where we have a heart. They deserve to be victims of crimes that include horrible rape and torture.

  16. These pic of hit should be shot themselves nd their heads put on posts for all to admire! This has to stop but whilst the US have a hunter for a President I’m not holding my breath

  17. When it comes to plundering the world’s exotic animals, America is no better than China. What kind of selfish individual wants a giraffe skin rug on their floor? I just don’t get it.

  18. jiggabongo says:

what kind of fucking scum buys products made from endangered animal parts?

  19. What is so hard about stopping this trade. Is it really that big a money maker in the US that our government is afraid of offending some big donor. Somehow, I cannot believe that. So what is the justification for permitting this to continue?

  20. Patricia Wolf says:

this killing has to stop – this is cruel and inhumane – how can anyone just kill an animal for their fur? Who is behind this killing –
