Dog Reportedly Left in Hot Car for Eight Hours Deserves Justice

Target: Michael Anderton, District Attorney for Jefferson County, Alabama

Goal: Punish the woman who allegedly left her dog in a hot car for eight hours, causing the dog to overheat and die.

A dog died after the poor animal was reportedly left inside of a hot car for eight hours. The dog’s owner claimed that she’d lost track of time inside of the store. Demand justice for this poor dog.

Distraught bystanders reportedly exclaimed “Oh my God” and “Come on, puppy” as police pulled the limp tan dog from Stephanie Shae Thomas’ car. Per the police, the dog had been locked inside of the car for seven hours in extreme heat without air conditioning or ventilation. The officers broke the window upon arrival, but it appeared to be too late. Resuscitation efforts were made, officers stated, but the dog had already died. Thomas exited the store around 12 p.m. and she reportedly had been inside since 4 a.m.

Thomas has been charged with aggravated cruelty to animals. Her bond is set at $25,000. Sign below and demand that Thomas receives the maximum penalty possible, if convicted.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear District Attorney Anderton,

A dog suffered and died after the poor animal was allegedly left in a hot car for eight hours. The owner had reportedly been in the store from 4 a.m. to 12 p.m. and she claimed that she lost track of time. We demand justice for this innocent dog.

Police arrived at the parking lot of a Walmart after they received a frantic call about a dog locked inside of a car without air conditioning or ventilation. With the owner nowhere to be found, police stated, they were forced to break the car’s windows and pull the limp tan dog to freedom. Sadly, all attempts at resuscitation failed and the dog died. Thomas finally exited the store and she was immediately arrested on charges of aggravated animal cruelty. She is now being held in the Jefferson County Jail and her bond is set at $25,000.

This alleged neglect cannot go unpunished. We demand that you seek the maximum penalty in this case.

Sincerely,
