Praise Restaurant Chain For Firing Manager Accused of Racial Profiling

Target: Eugene I. Lee Jr., CEO of Darden Restaurants

Goal: Praise restaurant’s parent company for defending equal rights and firing manager accused of racial profiling.

The manager of a Bahama Breeze location in Cleveland was fired after being accused of racial profiling. According to news reports, a black sorority was made to wait half an hour for their bill, and the manager called the police to ensure that the bill was paid. “Police were standing there to make sure everyone paid,” says party member Chante Spencer, according to reports; the women felt humiliated and discriminated against.

Thankfully, the chain’s parent company issued an apology statement, promising to make up for the location’s alleged actions, and the manager of this particular location has been fired. In a time where racial tensions are rising once again due to the current political climate, it is a good thing that someone accused of racism has been properly punished for their alleged actions.

While firing the manager will not erase the humiliation the party felt, it is good to know that the parent company is willing to validate and assuage their feelings. Racial profiling is a reprehensible crime and should always be treated as such. Sign this petition to thank Darden Restaurants for taking such quick action against it.

Dear Mr. Lee,

Thank you for seeing that the manager of your Cleveland Bahama Breeze location was fired for their alleged racist actions against a group of black customers. The manager allegedly called the police to ensure that the women paid their bill, humiliating and upsetting the party.

In today’s harsh political climate, racism is making a comeback; assumptions about people based on their skin color are seen as acceptable, and not enough perpetrators of such behavior are punished. Your quick action is commendable; not only were the feelings and concerns of the sorority validated, but it is good to know that your company does not approve of racist behavior. Thank you for terminating that manager’s position, and for your public apology.
