Halt Inhumane Practice of Prisoner Executions

Target: Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of Thailand

Goal: Put a halt on the practice of the death penalty.

After nearly a decade, Thailand has once again begun its death penalty practice. A 26-year-old man was murdered by lethal injection, ending the nation’s nine-year moratorium on the cruel practice.

In 2009, Thailand began a freeze on the death penalty as it took steps to improve the nation’s human rights. All progress has been eliminated by this one major step back.

There remain over 500 prisoners in Thailand who now face death. While these men and women should be punished for their crimes, capital punishment is not the answer. Sign the petition to demand Thailand put a halt to the death penalty.

Dear Prime Minister Chan-o-cha,

After ten years, your nation brought an end to its moratorium on the death penalty, despite promises to bring capital punishment to an end in an effort to improve human rights. Now, over 500 people face death by lethal injection and all progress has been lost.

Criminals should of course be punished for their acts of violence, but not with more violence. I demand your nation once again halt the practice of the death penalty.
