PETITION LETTER:

Dear State Attorney McCabe,

A dog was allegedly shot in the thigh as punishment for defecating in the house. The suspect claimed that it was legal to shoot dogs where he came from and he openly expressed his hatred for the animal. We demand justice for this innocent dog.

The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office charged David Zayas with aggravated animal cruelty after he allegedly shot his daughter’s 13-year-old dog. Per arrest reports, Zayas used a .22 caliber handgun to shoot the chocolate lab mix in the thigh after he defecated in Zayas’ house. He then stashed the gun in a plant bed outside, deputies stated. The dog received veterinary care and survived, thanks to the quick response of Zayas’ daughter. Deputies arrested Zayas and he was taken to Land O’ Lakes jail.

If found guilty, then this man is a danger to animals and must be punished. We demand that you seek the maximum penalty in this case.

Sincerely,

Besides his cruelties to the dog, this man should be charged with child abuse as well!
