Dog Allegedly Emaciated and Covered in Sores Deserves Justice

Target: Patrick J. Griffin, State’s Attorney for East Haven, Connecticut

Goal: Demand that the woman who allegedly denied a dog food, water, and veterinary care receive the maximum penalty possible by law.

A dog was allegedly starved and denied desperately needed veterinary care in a shocking case of animal cruelty. The suspect reportedly tied the sick dog outside in inclement weather. Demand justice for this innocent dog.

A veterinarian contacted East Haven Animal Control after Celena Campbell reportedly failed to bring her sick dog in for scheduled treatment. Per officers, a welfare check revealed an emaciated dog covered in deep untreated wounds. Samson, a Rhodesian Ridgeback, had reportedly dug a hole in the backyard in order to keep his extremely malnourished body warm during the inclement weather. A thorough exam showed that Samson had scars and bald spots in addition to muscle atrophy and malnutrition, all signs of potential neglect.

Animal Control took custody of Samson and provided him with veterinary care. He has recovered. Campbell was charged with animal cruelty and released on a $2,500 bond. She is scheduled to appear in court. Sign below and demand that Campbell receive the maximum penalty possible by law, if convicted.

Dear State’s Attorney Griffin,

A dog suffered severe malnutrition and muscle atrophy due to alleged neglect. Animal Control officers reportedly found the dog tied up outside in inclement weather, shielding himself in a hole he’d dug in the ground. We demand justice for this poor dog.

East Haven police charged Celena Campbell with animal cruelty after she allegedly denied her dog food, water, and veterinary care. Samson, a Rhodesian Ridgeback, was reportedly so malnourished that his spine and ribs protruded through his skin, and he had bald spots and scars. A thorough exam showed that Samson suffered from muscle atrophy and sores so deep that they reached the ligament, all signs of potential neglect. Animal Control took custody of Samson, and he has recovered with veterinary care. Campbell will answer her charges at a later date.

This alleged neglect must be punished. We demand that you seek the maximum penalty in this case.
