South Carolina: Stop Restricting Access To Women’s Health Care

Target: Henry McMaster, Governor of South Carolina

Goal: Veto anti-abortion bill currently being proposed by lawmakers.

South Carolina narrowly avoided passing a total abortion ban in the state recently, but that isn’t stopping lawmakers from creating more pro-life legislation. A new bill introduced by South Carolina lawmakers would ban any abortion when a fetal heartbeat is detected, almost identical to a bill passed in Idaho this month. The bill is gaining support from lawmakers as opponents do their best to stop it before the bill becomes law.

Bills like this are detrimental to women’s health as it continues the trend of lawmakers legislating what a private citizen can do with their body. We need to do better for our citizens and make laws that fit their best interests. Stand with us in demanding this legislation be stopped dead in it’s tracks.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Governor McMaster,

South Carolina women have been subject to scrutiny from the government for too long. Whether it’s access to birth control, STI screenings, or abortion services, the State of South Carolina has been a champion of anti-woman legislation. Our citizens deserve better and you are one of the only people in a position to do them justice.

Anti-abortion laws are anti-American, the Supreme Court ruled that to be so when Roe v. Wade was decided. Stand on the right side of history and be a champion for South Carolina women. We demand you do what’s right and veto this bill before it ever becomes a law.

Sincerely,
