Urge White House Staffer to Resign After Reportedly Insulting Brain Cancer Sufferer

Target: Kelly Sadler, Special Assistant to the White House

Goal: Urge White House special assistant to resign from her position after mocking Senator John McCain’s brain cancer diagnosis.

White House official Kelly Sadler mocked Senator John McCain’s brain cancer diagnosis at a meeting on Thursday, April 10, 2018. The comment was made during a discussion regarding President Trump’s nominee for CIA director, Gina Haspel. Senator McCain had expressed opposition to the nomination of Haspel and, in defense of the president’s nomination, Sadler allegedly said of McCain’s opinion, “It doesn’t matter, he’s dying anyway.”

The reported comments were made during a non-public White House meeting that included about two dozen communications staff members. A source familiar with the remarks of the meeting confirmed the derisive comment that Sadler made. In addition, the White House did not deny the account of Sadler’s remarks. Instead, in a statement the White House said, “We respect Senator McCain’s service to our nation and he and his family are in our prayers during this difficult time.”

Sources report that they believe that Sadler’s comment was intended to be a joke but was received poorly at the meeting. A source has reported that there was “discomfort” in the room after the comment but that the meeting continued without addressing the comment.

Sign this petition to urge Kelly Sadler to step down from her role as special assistant to the White House.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Ms. Sadler,

It has become very public knowledge that you reportedly made a comment against Senator McCain at a recent White House meeting. Although the comments regarding McCain’s health, which inherently is a private issue that has only been made public because of McCain’s profession as a public figure, may have been made in jest, they were inappropriate, uncalled for, and insensitive. A comment like this reveals biases that have no place in politics. I urge you to willingly step down from your position as special assistant to the White House.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
