Stop Limiting Access To Food Stamps

Target: Donald J. Trump, President of the United States

Goal: Stop attack on the vital Food Stamps program.

The Trump Administration seems to be targeting recipients of the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) directly with recent executive orders and public comments. Trump has said they are exploring the idea of drug testing some welfare recipients, despite overwhelming evidence to support the ineffectiveness and cost burden of welfare drug testing. In a political stunt, Trump also signed an executive order recently demanding an expensive and unnecessary investigation into the federal assistance programs.

All of these actions come after the recent budget proposal announced that SNAP recipients would be subject to receiving “food boxes” and that SNAP cards would no longer be able to buy items such as fresh produce or certain essentials. The actions are a direct attack on our nation’s poorest citizens and will not be tolerated. Stand with us in declaring Trump leave our nation’s weakest alone.

Dear President Trump,

Your attacks on the Food Stamp program are not going unnoticed by those who are holding you accountable. You can not limit the supply of our nation’s food stamp recipients, withholding food is equivalent to torture and you are proposing torture on a legislative level. All of the evidence is against the methods you are taking with our federal assistance programs, yet you continue to move forward with them.

By now it is painfully obvious that the administration does not care about the nation’s poorest, but you are the only person in a position to issue executive orders to stop these harsh actions. Stand on the right side of history on a crucial issue and ease off the SNAP restrictions.

That’s a typical trademark of the Trump administration and Republicans in general: to show disdain and scorn for the poor and underpriviledged and underrepresented and try to limit or eliminate the help they need.
