Man Accused of Cockfighting and Animal Abuse Must Face Justice

Target: Cynthia Coffman, Attorney General of Colorado

Goal: Prosecute man accused of animal cruelty and illegal cockfighting ring.

A total of 47 roosters were seized from the property of a Denver man allegedly running a cockfighting ring. One of the birds was reportedly found injured and wearing cockfighting gear; the others were reportedly unharmed, but were rushed to an avian care center and kept as evidence. Rafael Gonzalez was arrested on multiple charges of cockfighting and animal cruelty.

Cockfighting is illegal in Colorado; it is associated with gambling, and the events can often turn violent as the participants carry guns while drinking alcohol and consuming illegal drugs. The roosters are forced to fight to the death or near to it, and if these fights follow tradition, the losers are killed as punishment. It is a barbaric practice, and despite it being illegal, people continue to run underground rings.

Gonzalez is currently in jail without bond, and he must face justice for his alleged cruelty and flagrant violation of the law. Sign this petition to demand he face justice and prohibited from keeping animals in the future.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Attorney General Coffman,

A Denver man was arrested for multiple counts of cockfighting and animal cruelty after 47 roosters were reportedly seized from his property. One of the birds was reportedly injured and wore cockfighting gear. Cockfighting is illegal in Colorado due to its association with gambling and the violent nature of the fights. Despite the barbaric practice slowly being phased out, unfortunately, people continue to participate in illegal dealings.

Gonzalez is currently in jail without bond, and you must ensure that he is prosecuted for his alleged cruelty to these birds. Cockfighting is one of the worst forms of animal cruelty there is, and this man not only allegedly subjected multiple birds to it, but blatantly violated the law. He must face justice, and he must not be allowed to own any more animals in the future.

Sincerely,
