Dogs Allegedly Starved and Kept in Small Cat Crate Deserve Justice

Target: Geoffrey Rushlau, Esq., District Attorney for Lincoln County, Maine

Goal: Demand that the mother and daughter who allegedly starved and neglected their dogs, nearly leading to the death of one, receive the maximum penalty by law.

One dog suffered and another nearly died when they were allegedly starved and kept in deplorable conditions. The suspects reportedly stuffed one of the dogs into a small cat crate, causing the dog’s legs to bow. Demand justice for these innocent dogs.

“That dog, when we first saw it, was within hours of passing,” stated Waldoboro Police Chief William Labombarde. Labombarde investigated the home belonging to Melinda S. Allen and her daughter, Dakota Chandler, after he received reports of two neglected dogs. One pit bull mix, reports stated, was close to death. The second pit bull mix, a five-month-old named Apollo, was reportedly living in an 18-inch cat crate too small for him to stand or turn in. Per police, Apollo urinated and defecated inside of the crate, and his ribs showed through his skin.

Animal Control took custody of each of the dogs. Their current condition is unreported. Allen and Chandler were charged with felony animal cruelty. Sign below and demand that they receive the maximum penalty by law, if convicted.

Dear District Attorney Rushlau,

Two dogs were allegedly starved and neglected nearly to the point of death. One dog was reportedly five pounds underweight and lived in a small cat crate. We demand justice for these poor dogs.

Waldoboro police charged Melinda S. Allen and her daughter, Dakota Chandler, with felony animal cruelty after they allegedly starved and neglected two dogs. Per police, one of the dogs was within hours of death when they arrived at the scene. The second dog, a five-month-old pit bull mix named Apollo, reportedly lived in an 18-inch cat crate too small for him to stand or turn in. Apollo’s legs reportedly bowed, due to the lack of space, and he laid in his own urine and feces. Animal Control took custody of the dogs. Allen and Chandler were arrested and are scheduled for trial.

This horrific neglect must be punished. We demand that you seek the maximum penalty in this case.

  1. Lock them up and make sure they never, ever see or touch another animal again!

Hope that when that ‘bastard’ is found he is stuck in that same 18 inch crate … for as long as his jail period lasts.
