Demand Lighter Sentence for Teenager Facing 241 Years in Prison

Target: Eric Greitens, Governor of Missouri

Goal: Shorten prison sentence of 16-year-old who was harshly sentenced to 241 years in prison.

Bobby Bostic made a mistake at 16 years old. He and another young individual decided to steal a group of presents for a Christmas drive. Bobby was sentenced to almost 250 years in jail. In the state of Missouri, life sentences are not allowed to be given to those under the age of 18 if they didn’t kill anyone. Nobody died in the altercation Bobby was involved in, so why is he being given the maximum possible sentence?

The judge who tried the case admits that she regrets the decision she has made. Researchers have since found new information regarding the developing teenage brain. This new information, she says, would have changed her ruling when it was made. Bobby isn’t eligible for parole until he’s 112 years old. Crimes deserved to be punished, but should a child serve multiple life sentences for his or her mistake? Sign this petition below to demand a more just punishment for a child’s crime.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Governor Greitens,

Bobby Bostic is not an innocent man, but he is certainly not guilty enough to rot in a prison cell. Even the most exaggerated crimes committed by minors don’t carry with them a 250-year prison sentence, so why is Bobby being unfairly punished?

A lighter sentence would be much more understood. If the state were to only give him 10 years of prison and some parole time, that would be just. This sentence, however, is a travesty of American justice and should be reversed at once. I demand you take the appropriate action to overturn this sentencing and create justice where justice is due.

Sincerely,

  1. How stupid, the kid stole and for a good cause. You law system let O J off with a lighter jail term for murder. The eyes of the world are watching. Step up and do the right thing.

  2. Judge sentenced 16 year old child Bobby Bostic to nearly 250 year in jail for stealing! That show how really far down the spiral of destruction some of USA societies has come.

  3. KatWrangler Welch says:

OK – so, if in the state of Missouri, life sentences are not allowed to be given to those under the age of 18 if they didn’t kill anyone. So what is this young man doing in prison for theft?

Pedophiles/child rapists and drug dealers get lighter sentences.
Consider his time served, and lesson learned.

  4. trump should be the one facing 241 years in prison for all the illegal and stupid things he’s done while being our president, not this kid!

  5. Rosslyn Osborne says:

O M Goodness? Is this for real…this judge needs to be fired for stupidity and callousness! How dare anyone be given a life sentence for stealing charity gifts… not even the crown jewels theft would incur that amount.
I am one that feels strongly the time to fit the crime no matter the age, so perhaps a year or more (not knowing if weapons or injury was involved) up to about 10 if it was with violence… but a couple of hundred? Crazy! Murders get far less than that and so do rapists and sexual predators….Please sort this out it is wrong.
