End Barbaric Cat Meat Markets in Vietnam

Target: Trần Đại Quang, President of Vietnam

Goal: Crack down on meat markets where cats are slaughtered for human consumption across Vietnam.

Helpless cats are being squeezed into so-called “death cages” where they are drowned and skinned for their meat, which is considered a delicacy all across Vietnam. The fact that eating cat meat is illegal in this southeast Asian country has done little to discourage middle class diners who enjoy ordering this exotic and expensive dish, often referred to as “little tiger.” Demand justice for these helpless cats and tell the Vietnamese government to crack down on this barbaric trade.

Recent video footage and pictures from activist group Fight Dog Meat reveal the full scope and horror of the cat meat trade in Vietnam. The cats, mainly young kittens, are shown stuffed into bags before being forced into wire cages and drowned in vats of water. Finally, the cats are skinned and boiled before being prepared into a variety of dishes. Disturbingly, many of the cats shown appear to be wearing collars, suggesting that they may have been kidnapped pets.

It is outrageous that this abusive behavior is continuing to go unpunished in Vietnam. Stop this horrific example of animal cruelty by signing the petition below.

Dear President Quang,

The slaughter of cats for human consumption is taking place all across Vietnam despite your country’s ban on this abhorrent practice. Footage recently taken in Ho Chi Minh City shows hundreds of cats packed into bags before being drowned alive. Many of these cats appear to be wearing collars, suggesting they were kidnapped pets.

This illegal and abominable behavior must be brought to an end. Cats do not deserve to die to sate the appetites of the middle class. We, the undersigned, demand that you bring this trade to an end by cracking down on all cat meat smugglers and food sellers participating in this vile act.

  1. Disgusting, backward, mindless country, you are disgrace to decent people- cats will do you no good except to give you worms crawling through bodies giving you diseases but if you are too stupid to stop eating them you deserve all you get.

  2. gabriela torres says:

The majority of the ‘slanted eyes’ people eat cats and dogs: they don’t know any better …

    • It’s not just cats and dogs, it’s ocean animals like sharks and whales that they murder, it’s elephants, rhinos, etc., etc., etc., for their amazingly stupid and barbaric/medieval medicines. These people are subhuman!

      • Jenna Miles says:

You mean like for ivory, which the U.S is also a major market for? You mean like the american and european hunters who kill animals for ‘trophies’? You mean like what we dop to animals for our medicines? You mean like the animals we murder for food? Get real, they are no worse than us.

    • Jenna Miles says:

Okay, racist there dude what the hell? They eat them because it is simply normal to them, same way eating cows is to an american.

  3. Asian nations are the worst when it comes to animals, PERIOD!

  4. Jenna Miles says:

Why is it that whenever any animal cruelty inv0olving an Asian country is brought up, people get super racist, but when it is America or a European country, nobody talks about how cruel white people are? Why is eating dogs and cats so much worse than eating farmed animals? It isnt, it is only our perception of them that differs. Grow up racists.

of course everyone in this world is rude cause they get too much meat thats all. the word you’re looking for is speciesist.
