Applaud Texas Energy Company for Completion of New Wind Project

Target: Governor of Texas, Rick Perry

Goal: Applaud the Texas company EDF Renewable Energy for beginning operations of a new wind project.

The Texas company EDF Renewable Energy, formerly known as enXco, recently began operations at the new Spinning Spur Wind Project, located in Oldham County, Texas. The 161MW installation is capable of supplying clean energy to approximately 50,000 average homes. Applaud the work of this organization contributing to the safety of our natural environment.

The new Spinning Spur Wind Project is comprised of 70 Siemens 2.3 MW turbines situated about 30 miles west of Amarillo. Power generated from the plant is being sold to the Southwestern Public Service company under a 15-year agreement, during which EDF Renewable Services will continue to service the facility. EDF Renewable Energy wishes to expand their work in Texas. Ryan Pfaff, Executive Vice President of the company, said, “Texas leads the nation in installed wind capacity, due to robust wind resources, a business friendly environment, and supportive stakeholders at the states and local levels. Spinning Spur represents EDF Renewable Energy’s first project in Texas, and we look forward to future opportunities to build on newly established partnerships with the project’s landowners, the local community, and the Southwestern Public Service Company.”

The long term emissions free energy provided by Spinning Spur has environmental and economic benefits. Walt Hornaday, an executive of the company Cielo Wind Services, Inc., which contributed to construction of the site, said, “The Cielo team directed a project spending program for construction contracting with Oldham County businesses and Southwestern Public Service Company customers. The local property tax incentives and Southwestern Public Service Company’s long term wind purchase directly resulted in hundreds of jobs during construction.” From an environmental standpoint, the project will avoid over 369,500 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually, equivalent to the the use of more than 41.4 million gallons of gasoline.

EDF Renewable Energy is a leading independent U.S. energy producer with over 25 years of experience in the industry. Specializing in wind and solar facilities, the company has an energy portfolio of more than 4.5 gigawatts of developed projects. This organization’s prolonged commitment to providing clean energy is continued in their completion of the Spinning Spur Wind Project. Sign this petition to ask Texas Governor Rick Perry to applaud EDF Renewable Energy’s efforts towards sustainable solutions to protect our environment.

Dear Governor Perry,

EDF Renewable Energy, formerly enXco, recently completed and began operations of a renewable installation called the Spinning Spur Wind Project. This new 161 MW wind farm is comprised of 70 turbines located approximately 30 miles west of Amarillo, Texas. The clean power generated from the plant, enough to supply about 50,000 average homes, is being sold to Southwestern Public Service Company under a 15 year agreement.

Besides creating hundreds of jobs and qualifying Oldham County for tax incentives, the project will avoid more than 369,500 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually, equivalent to the the use of over 41.4 million gallons of gasoline. This project is EDF Renewable Energy’s first in Texas, and they look forward to build on their newly established partnerships with more Texas-based clean energy ventures in the future. This organization’s efforts have greatly benefited Texas from environmental and economic standpoints, and should receive recognition. I urge you to applaud EDF Renewable Energy for their work towards providing sustainable power to keep our natural environment safe.

Good work! Thank You for your good work! I hope that there will be solar and wooden wind turbines and wooden windmill as the primary source of energy as soon as possible.
I hope that there will be solar with almost every building, dwelling, house, home that people would like solar. Thank You to the people who are working on these projects.
