Stop Wildlife Trafficking in Madagascar

Target: Hery Rajaonarimampianina, President of Madagascar

Goal: End illegal wildlife trade in Madagascar.

Thousands of wild animals in Madagascar are left homeless due to floods and landslides destroying their habitats following Cyclone Ava. Studies have shown a direct link between natural disasters and the illegal wildlife trade, with loss of habitat making animals more vulnerable to capture.

Wildlife trafficking is one of the cruelest forms of animal abuse. Animals are captured and caged against their will and sold for hundreds upon thousands of dollars. They’re being treated like objects rather than the living creatures they are. The wildlife trade is one of many causes of endangerment and near-extinction, as many of these animals do not survive their captivity.

Many animals have been rescued from the wildlife trade following Cyclone Ava, and we must ensure they are protected from future natural disasters and their aftermath. Furthermore, we must ensure the protection of all wildlife by putting an end to the trade once and for all. Sign this petition to better enforce laws against the capture and trafficking of innocent wildlife.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear President Rajaonarimampianina,

Many animals in your nation were recently rescued from wildlife trafficking rings following Cyclone Ava. The disaster left these animals homeless due to floods and landslides, therefore making them vulnerable to humans desperately seeking income after the loss of their own homes and livelihoods to the disaster. The wildlife trade is one of the most inhumane forms of cruelty to animals, many animals even dying in captivity due to poor conditions or rough treatment.

You must put an end to the trafficking of wildlife. Animals are living creatures, and these rings treat them as if they were objects, selling them for hundreds upon thousands of dollars to people who treat them like accessories or subject them to cruelty and captivity. Please take additional action to end these trafficking rings and ensure the safety of all wildlife once and for all, especially following natural disasters such as cyclones.

Sincerely,

  1. A COMMUNITY WHICH IS CRUEL TO ANIMALS CANNOT BE A GOOD SOCIETY, ARTHUR SHOPENHAUER SAID THE COMPASSION FOR ANIMALS IS INTIMATELY CONNECTED WITH GOODNESS OF CHARACTER; AND THIS IS ABSOLUTELY TRUE. COMPASSION PROMOTES EVOLUTION, AND WE NEED TO EVOLVE AND BE BETTER HUMAN BEINGS.

  2. This just shows how greedy people can be. Stop hurting innocent animals when so many of the are already in peril. Disgusting.we should be doing better.
