End Discrimination Against the LGBTQ Community

Target: Nana Akufo-Addo, President of Ghana

Goal: End discrimination and violence against the LGBTQ community.

The LGBTQ community in Ghana faces violence and discrimination at the hands of its own government. An antiquated law has allowed Ghanaians to be punished for same-sex activity.

This law has been in place since 1960 and is severely outdated. Anyone can be discriminated against for their sexual orientation or gender identity. They also face mental abuse and physical violence.

The government should protect the LGBTQ community, not allow its members to be discriminated against and targeted with violence. Every single day, members of the LGBTQ community face harassment and abuse. This must end immediately. Sign the petition to demand that the government of Ghana repeal its outdated law.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear President Akufo-Addo,

Members of your nation’s LGBTQ community are discriminated against and abused every single day. An obsolete law nearly 60 years old allows this violence and harassment to go on unpunished.  Mental abuse and physical violence run rampant and are seen as commonplace against those of different sexual orientations or gender identities.

This abuse, harassment, and violence must be brought to an end. Your government’s job is to protect its citizens, not hurt them. I demand that your government repeal the outdated law that forces your citizens to suffer at the hands of hatred.

Sincerely,
