Demand Justice for Abandoned, Starved Dog

Target: Tony Clark, District Attorney for Tennessee 1st Judicial District

Goal: Punish a woman who allegedly doomed her pet to death from starvation.

A shelter puppy believed to be headed for a loving home met a tragic end last year. In June of 2017, a Johnson City, Tennessee landlord made a horrendous discovery: the decomposing body of a young dog. Authorities believe the dog belonged to Lindsey Price, 29, a former tenant of the condo where the body was found. A grand jury indicted the woman on charges of aggravated animal cruelty, but the trial date was postponed to April earlier in January.

Records indicate that Price had previously adopted a black-and-brown puppy named Sugar (and renamed Luna) from a local animal shelter two years prior. An employee of the shelter confirmed that the animal who passed away is most likely the same dog adopted from the shelter. Price, however, would not confirm the charge that she left her pet to starve and ultimately die in a locked room when she moved from the condo. She instead elected to have the case heard by the grand jury.

Price has spent some time in jail: 20 days. This ‘sentence’ did not stem from the animal cruelty charges, though. Rather, it resulted from an unrelated DUI probationary violation. Price did not even serve this time consecutively. She was allowed to complete her sentence on weekends.

Price will receive another day in court when she appears before a criminal court in April. Sign this petition and demand that this alleged abuser receive a proper punishment this time and – more importantly – demand justice for a dog seeking a forever home who was instead banished to a house of horrors.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Clark,

Tennessee made a strong statement against animal cruelty when it created its statewide animal abuse registry. Cruelty does not always come in the obvious forms, however. Beatings, torture, and maiming may grab the headlines, but sometimes the greatest cruelties arise from cruel indifference. Consider this when you try the case of Lindsey Price.

The accused adopted a dog, Luna, and in doing so she made a pledge to provide this innocent living being entrusted to her care a safe, loving home. If the allegations prove true, she then abandoned this animal who was entirely dependent on her and left her pet to starve. For days, this animal wasted away slowly and painfully – sentenced to a fate far worse than any that might have awaited it in an animal shelter.

The perpetrator of this crime showed a cruel indifference to life. Please do not show the same indifference with a plea deal or by pursuing a lenient sentence. Seek punishment to the fullest extent of the law and send an unwavering message that careless cruelty will never become an acceptable norm.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

  1. This woman needs to be sentenced and banned from ever being near an animal. Take samples of her DNA and send her photo across the country on Facebook to shame this useless human being.

  2. Eileen Goodman says:

Justice would be starving that owner to death.

    • Right on! An eye for an eye! Do you know she pleaded guilty to DUI in December 2016? Approximately 6 months after that she moved out of a condo leaving her dog, that she adopted in March 2015 as a 12-week old puppy, locked in a room to die? Then, she showed up to Court obviously pregnant. She is going to be a wonderful mother, don’t you think? Great, in 20 years her offspring will likely be a felon. She is a real piece of trash!-
Hey, Alexandria Lindsey Price-if you cannot even care for a dog, how do you think you can care for a child? You idiot!

  3. Barton Dixon says:

“If a man aspires towards a righteous life, his first act of abstinence is from injury to animals.” Albert Einstein
“Compassion for animals is intimately connected with goodness of character; and it may be confidently asserted that he who is cruel to animals cannot be a good man.” Authur Schopenhauer
“If you have men who will exclude any of God’s creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow men.” St. Francis of Assisi

  4. LINDSEY PRICE must never have animal ownership, life long ban. She has committed murder by starvation. Time to do your jobs and sentence this woman! This dog suffered horribly!

  5. Please stop the domestic pet trade! This woman and countless like her are great reasons to not let any idiot be a guardian to living creatures. Stop breeding animals to torture kill and abuse, neglect and abandon!!!

  6. Track and kill, this human shit does not deserve to live
So much sick in the head you have to exterminate

  7. This is sick. Make this woman pay, pay for shelters, pay for her crime of animal abuse and the fact that she lied when she adopted this poor dog. Put her on a registry to NEVER be able to have a pet. If there were REAL punishments to fit the crime, this would not happen again and again.

  8. This putrid women must be punished harshly for this atrocity to this defenseless living being. This poor abandoned dog did not deserve the terrible suffering of starving to death in a locked room. No living being should ever be treated in such a cruel and pitiful manner! I demand justice for this poor worthy pup! Procecute this putrid waste to the fullest extent of our sadly inadequate animal abuse laws, now!
