Demand Sport Chek Return to Fur-Free Products

Target: Duncan Fulton, President of FGL Sports

Goal: Demand Sport Chek stop selling fur.

After a short break from selling fur, Sport Chek decided to support the cruel industry again by selling jackets with fur trim. The company claims the fur is “ethically sourced,” however there is nothing ethical about killing an animal for fashion.

Animals used for fur typically spend their entire lives in cramped, dirty cages. The animals are usually killed before they reach a year old in whatever way the industry deems most convenient. These ways include strangulation, bludgeoning, suffocation, neck-breaking, electrocution, and poisoning. Unfortunately, these crude killing methods often lead to semiconscious animals being skinned alive.

Sign this petition to demand Sport Chek stop selling fur trim coats. Fake fur is a great and readily available material that should be utilized instead.

Dear Mr. Fulton,

After hearing from outraged customers, many of your companies under FGL Sports decided to stop selling fur. Unfortunately, Sport Chek has recently decided to start selling jackets with real fur trims again. It is time to be done with fur for good.

Animals trapped in the fur industry are often kept in small, dirty cages where they have limited access to food and water. They are typically killed by strangulation, bludgeoning, suffocation, neck-breaking, electrocution, and poisoning as these methods are considered convenient and cheap. Far too often, animals are still conscious when they are sent to be skinned. Sport Chek claims its fur is “ethically sourced,” but killing an animal for fashion is not ethical.

There is no need to kill animals for coat trims, so I ask you to please consider no longer selling fur. There are many alternative materials available that do not harm animals.
