Success: Pepsi Cuts Ties with Palm Oil Plantation

Target: Indra Nooyi, CEO of PepsiCo

Goal: Applaud Pepsi for cutting its ties with destructive palm oil plantation.

After public outcry, PepsiCo has cut ties with Indonesian palm oil plantation Indofood Agri Resources. Pepsi listened to its consumers and put human rights above its profits.

Indofood was found to be using child labor in its dangerous and destructive palm oil plantation. Children were subject to harmful working conditions, long hours, and little pay. Organizations and petitions, like this one on ForceChange, demanded that Pepsi cut ties with the corporation.

Sign the petition to thank PepsiCo for listening to your pleas. However, remind the company that more must be done. Ask that they continue to take a stand against child labor.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Ms. Nooyi,

Thank you for ending ties with Indofood Agri Resources. You took a stand against child labor and put human rights and the future of the environment ahead of your bottom line. More companies would do well to follow your lead.

While you have taken a very important step in the right direction, much more must still be done to ensure that the rights of all living beings are protected. I applaud your company for its actions and ask that you continue to defend human rights.

Sincerely,
