Denounce Ryan Zinke for Ignoring Wellbeing of National Parks

Target: Ryan Zinke, Secretary of the Department of Interior

Goal: Demand that the Department of Interior meet with the U.S. National Park Service and act now to protect our natural landscape.

The United States National Parks protect vast amounts of the country’s precious environment in order to preserve the land from exploitation. These landmarks represent hope and beauty in a world overrun by greed and pollution. Under the current administration, government organizations in charge of protecting the environment have been attacked and neglected.

The government’s lack of initiative is highlighted by the fact that Monday night, nine of the 12 members of the U.S. National Park Service advisory board resigned. The ex-members cited Ryan Zinke’s unwillingness to meet as an instigating factor for the mass resignation. The board wanted to discuss issues such as effects of climate change, protection of the environment, science, and education. The Interior Secretary’s priorities obviously do not align with this issues as he repeatedly ignored meeting to be briefed on these issues in relation to the NPS agenda.

Zinke and the Department of Interior have a duty to work with government organizations and institutions. Simply being briefed about the NPS agenda and goals for the future should not be ignored and pushed aside. Especially at this point in history, with environmental protection under attack, it is vital we make our voices and demands heard. Sign this petition to let Zinke know that U.S. citizens care for the protection of national parks, and environment as a whole.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Zinke,

Given the tumultuous times riddling the government and nation today, there needs to be an effort on everyone’s part to keep the peace and work together. The resignation of the nine National Park Service advisory board members shows poor leadership and initiative on your part. Citing your unwillingness to meet in their resignations, these board members made it clear the animosity this administration has toward and environmental government organization.

Moving forward, there needs to be a larger effort to work with other government departments. The NPS serves a key role in today’s world of environmental impacts and dangers. Their agenda effects all visitors and the land they protect. Helping these types of agencies to move forward and keep working will benefit them, the administration, and the nation.

Sincerely,
