Provide Aide to Refugees Facing Deadly Violence

Target: Donald Trump, President of the United States

Goal: Fund aide for Rohingya Refugees in Myanmar and Bangladesh.

A group of refugees is being forced to move from Bangladesh to Myanmar starting next week. Being uprooted from the life that they now know, these people don’t know if they have homes to return to or how they will be treated when they arrive in Myanmar. Rohingya are part of a Muslim group that have resided in Myanmar as a cultural minority for generations without being granted citizenship. Last summer the Myanmar army stopped the uprising of a Rohingya militant group and proceeded to rape and kill thousands of innocent Rohingya. To escape what the United Nations called an “ethnic cleansing,” the Rohingya fled to neighboring Bangladesh. However, 650,000 refugees are now being sent back to Myanmar.

These Rohingya families, whose lives have already been so uprooted, need urgent and generous aide to survive. 95% of the Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh do not have access to clean water and 400,000 need medical attention that they are not receiving. The International Rescue Committee has called on donors to make donations to help aide the Rohingya refugees by providing clean water, emergency food, and medical care to those traveling between Bangladesh and Myanmar. Sign this petition to urge President Trump to fund this lifesaving aide.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear President Trump,

Last year, 1 million Rohingya refugees fled from what the United Nations deemed an ethnic cleansing in their home country of Myanmar to Bangladesh. Bangladesh and Myanmar have created a deal that will move the Rohingya back to Myanmar at the rate of 300 refugees per day. This process will be difficult for the refugees who have been living in temporary camps where 95% do not have access to clean water and over 400,000 do not have access to medical care that they so desperately need.

The Rohingya people need help to resettle themselves in Myanmar. They do not know if they will be returning to the homes they have left or if they will need to rebuild everything from scratch. They do not know how the people of Myanmar, whose religion is different than their own, will receive them. I urge you to provide lifesaving funds to the International Rescue Committee who will be providing water, food, and medical attention to the refugees that need it.

Sincerely,

    stop racist laws now!

Interesting as Myanmar does not want any Muslims living in their country, they were invaders from Bangladesh. It is a similar situation in India where the Muslims were not wanted or welcome after they conquered the Indians and were later thrown out. Islam regards this as hijrah or conquering by immigration / birth.
