Dog Allegedly Denied Veterinary Care for Severe Mange Deserves Justice

Target: Joseph Stanzione, District Attorney for Greene County, New York

Goal: Demand that the man who allegedly denied a dog veterinary care for a severe case of mange receive the maximum penalty by law.

“Penny is a gentle, sweet dog that deserves a better life than she’s had thus far,” stated Columbia Greene Humane Society/SPCA President Ron Perez. The three-year-old female pit bull mix was reportedly abandoned by her owner, identified as Paul C. Bull, while suffering with an advanced case of mange. The skin disease was so severe that Penny lost the majority of her hair and had multiple skin infections, Perez stated. She was found wandering around a town not far from her home and, per Perez, she could have easily frozen to death in the frigid conditions.

Penny is in the custody of the Columbia Greene Humane Society, and she is expected to make a full recovery. The Greene County Sheriff arrested Bull and charged him with one misdemeanor count of animal cruelty. Sign below and demand that Bull receive the maximum penalty by law, if convicted.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear District Attorney Stanzione,

A dog suffered and could have died when she was allegedly denied necessary veterinary care. The dog reportedly suffered from a severe case of mange, and she was left to fend her herself in the frigid cold. We demand justice for this poor dog.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office charged Paul C. Bull with one misdemeanor count of animal cruelty after he allegedly neglected to provide necessary veterinary care to his dog. Penny, a three-year-old female pit bull mix, reportedly suffered with mange so badly that most of her hair fell out. She had multiple skin infections and could have easily frozen to death in the frigid cold, an investigator stated. Penny is receiving veterinary care at the Columbia Greene Humane Society and, thanks to their quick response, is expected to make a full recovery.

This cruelty cannot go unpunished. We demand that you seek the maximum penalty in this case.

Sincerely,
