Mexico: End Brutal Torture of Civilians

Target: Enrique Peña Nieto, President of Mexico

Goal: End the brutal and deadly torture of civilians by Mexican authorities.

Civilians in Mexico are being tortured and murdered by authorities. Deadly violence against civilians has increased and is expected to get even worse. Civilians arrested by authorities have been subjected to shock treatments, waterboarding, suffocation, and even rape.

Since 2012, thousands of civilians have been tortured by authorities. This torture has been part of Mexico’s violent crackdown on drug cartels and gangs. However, violence will not end violence. Doctors, lawyers, and other professionals have turned a blind eye to this torture.

The United Nations has criticized Mexico, but little has been done to bring this abuse to an end. Sign the petition to demand that the Mexican government put an end to the violent and deadly torture of civilians.

Dear President Peña Nieto,

In only several years, thousands of civilians have been tortured and killed by authorities in your nation. They’ve been beaten and brutalized, suffocated and waterboarded, and even electrocuted and raped. They’ve been treated as sub-humans.

Violence will not bring an end to violence. If your nation wants to end the drug and gang violence, it must seek other routes rather than the torture of thousands of civilians. The United Nations has asked your country to bring an end to this violence. I demand that you listen and stop the brutal and deadly torture of your citizens.

  1. Rosslyn Osborne says:

For thousands of years we have had bloodshed and strife. It is enough; it is sufficient. Now is the time to associate together in love and harmony. For thousands of years we have tried the sword and warfare; let mankind for a time at least live in peace. Review history and consider how much savagery, how much bloodshed and battle the world has witnessed. It has been either religious warfare, political warfare or some other clash of human interests. The world of humanity has never enjoyed the blessing of Universal Peace … God has created us all human and all countries of the world are parts of the same globe. We are all his servants. He is kind and just to all. Why should we be unkind and unjust to each other? He provides for all. Why should we deprive one another? He protects and preserves all. Why should we kill our fellow-creatures? – Abdu’l-Baha,
