Don’t Eliminate Animal Rights Organization’s Authority

Target: Christopher Christie, Governor of New Jersey

Goal: Don’t strip police power from New Jersey animal rights organization.

New Jersey lawmakers have just passed a bill to shut down the New Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and any power of authority they have. The bill was rushed through without any thought after the State Commission of Investigation accused the organization of being “gun-carrying wannabe cops,” much to the outrage of NJSPCA president Steve Shatkin.

This selfish attempt to shut down animal rights in Jersey is beyond despicable. There is no evidence of the NJSPCA’s supposed mismanagement; the accusations being hurled at them are completely baseless. This bill was rushed, with absolutely no critical thought or discussion, a selfish attempt to silence those seeking justice and safety for animals.

The bill is headed for Governor Christie’s desk at this very moment, and we must do everything in our power to ensure that it is rejected on sight. Animal rights are more important than ever now, and we cannot allow selfish lawmakers to strip the power from any organization that can enforce them. Sign this petition to protect the authority of the NJSPCA.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Governor Christie,

Lawmakers have rushed a bill through to your office that would strip the New Jersey Society for the Prevention of Animal Cruelty of any authority. The organization has been accused of mismanagement and “rogue” justice carried out by “wannabe cops,” despite there being no evidence of either; this bill is just an effort to quiet those seeking justice and safety for animals.

You cannot let this bill pass or support it in any way. Animal cruelty cases have been on the rise in the past year, with too many animals being hurt, neglected, or even killed. We need animal rights organizations to maintain their authority and power to ensure that this trend dies down and that those charged with animal cruelty are punished accordingly. Do not support this selfish, accusatory bill that was passed without any thought.

Sincerely,

  1. SIN LEYES NI CONSECUENCIAS POR NUESTRO COMPORTAMIENTO, NO EXISTIRÍAN LOS LÍMITES NECESARIOS PARA FORMAR CONDUCTAS SOCIALMENTE ACEPTABLES. GRACIAS A QUE EXISTEN LEYES Y TIENEN AUTORIDAD, ES QUE LOS SERES HUMANOS SOMOS IGUALES, TENEMOS DERECHOS; Y ASÍ DESAPARECIÓ LA ESCLAVITUD. AHORA ES DE VITAL IMPORTANCIA QUE LA LEY TENGA EL PODER, LA INFLUENCIA Y LA AUTORIDAD DETERMINANTE PARA DAR IGUALDAD Y DEFENSA A LOS ANIMALES. YA ES TIEMPO DEL CAMBIO, ES TIEMPO DE EVOLUCIONAR!!!

This is another huge mistake by republicans. Their continued attacks on our environment, wildlife, domestic animals(ag gag) and companion animals is going to backfire. The pet industry was the only industry not effected by the recession under George W Bush. While the housing market crashed, the car industry bottomed out and people lost their jobs, and their homes the pet industry flourished. People love their pets. People are now demanding better treatment of farm animals. Stop these idiotic attacks on our animals or suffer the consequences

  3. The NJSPCA must be protected- indeed financed if the US want the world to see something is being done about animal protection in the US. Every day without fail we hear numbers of instances of despicable behaviour and appalling cruelty meted out to companion animals. Why are you happy to be thought of as a third world country in this field? Get it together and show humanity, kindness and pity and prove yourselves to be men, not monsters and androids.

  4. this is unreal what the hell is wrong with that state to do that when there’s so much cruelty going on do your jobs and don’t let this bill pass the sick sons of bi..hes that cause cruelty to animals must be dealt with the US is turning into a third world country and needs to wake up and help do away with cruelty not allow it
