Convert Farmland Into Wildflower Meadows to Help Wildlife

Target: Theresa May, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom

Goal: Support conversion of farmlands into meadows.

United Kingdom farmlands may be converted back into meadows following Brexit, according to UK Environmental Secretary Michael Gove. Meadows have been in short supply since the Second World War, accounting for the loss of much of the kingdom’s wildlife, bird, and bee population. Following the UK’s exit from the European Union, however, the current landowner-rewarding subsidy regime may change to focus on supporting the environment.

This change in regime would change the UK for the better in many respects. Wildflower meadows are vital to the survival of birds and bees, which in turn pollinate flowers and spread seeds throughout the land to provide food for other species of wildlife. This UK-exclusive regime could easily have global benefits in the future, helping endangered species to thrive and migrate elsewhere to spread their numbers.

We must support this new regime as fully as possible. The environment needs our help to thrive more than ever, and converting farmlands back into wildflower meadows is one of the most helpful moves we can make. Sign this petition to urge the support of this endeavor.

Dear Prime Minister May,

United Kingdom Environmental Secretary Michael Gove has announced plans to convert farmlands back into meadows following Brexit. This would change the subsidy regime from rewarding landowners to supporting the environment.

You must support this endeavor. Wildflower meadows have been nearly extinct in the UK following the Second World War, resulting in the loss of beneficial birds and bees as well as much of the local wildlife. This new regime is exactly what this planet needs right now, with attacks on the environment coming one after the other in quick succession. Please support the new regime and help to replenish wildflower meadows in the UK.

  1. This is the best idea I have heard in a long time. Sounds very peaceful and tranquil. The birds and the bees and the wildlife will thank you!

  2. I think it only seem logical that they continue to support environmental friendly policies.

  3. Rosslyn Osborne says:

Our planets oceans, forests and soils work constantly for humanity. They are acting as vast storehouses for greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and methane. Our planet’s astounding biodiversity provides for every single human need. Humans everywhere spend every working day connected to nature; by the foods we eat from the fertile soils and the natural water we drink all come from our generous earth, and we stake our very lives upon it. Please get into this now for everyone’s sake.Thank you

    • Gen Agustsson says:

its the opposite, humans everywhere have destroyed lands in order to build more apartments and other buildings. yes humans everywhere need to be connected to nature instead of destructing the earth.
