Fund Museum Dedicated to Women’s Rights

Target: Sir Lindsay Hoyle, Chairman of Ways and Means Committee, Parliament of England

Goal: Financially support the United Kingdom’s only museum dedicated to women’s suffrage.

The United Kingdom’s only museum dedicated solely to the women’s suffrage movement is in desperate need of national funding. Without sufficient funding, the museum may not be able to continue to tell the story of the brave women who led the way in the women’s rights movement.

The Pankhurst Centre, located in Manchester, displays stories and artifacts from the U.K.’s suffrage movement. However, a lack of funds are preventing it from acquiring a wider collection of resources, artifacts, and educational materials. A lack of funds has also prevented the museum from acquiring repairs necessary to expand and continue to spread the suffrage movement’s message to a wider audience.

The museum needs about 3.5 million pounds to achieve its goals. Now, more than ever, women’s stories should be supported and heard. The Pankhurst Centre is the ideal place to do so. Sign the petition to ask the government to fund the Pankhurst Centre and the stories of the brave women who paved the way for women’s rights.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Sir Hoyle,

The Pankhurst Centre in Manchester is the United Kingdom’s only museum dedicated solely to the women’s suffrage movement. It brings the stories of suffragists to life and makes sure their dedication and bravery are remembered forever. However, this museum is in desperate need of funding.

Only with funding can it continue to share the stories of the women’s movement to generations both now and in the future. The museum needs to expand and continue to preserve women’s history. Now, more than ever, this is so important. I ask that you and your fellow parliament members work on a plan that would fund the Pankhurst Centre in order to keep its stories alive.

Sincerely,

  1. It was because of the plight these women endured that set the way forward for women today I should think that was a very important lesson to learn from and set sights for generations way down the line to learn from.
