Target: Customer Service Representatives at LEGO
Goal: Thank LEGO for surpassing their customer service duties
LEGO went above and beyond customer service when they made the dreams of an eleven-year-old boy with Asperger Syndrome come true. The boy, James Groccia, has been playing with LEGO toys most of his life; they have even helped him develop social skills.
Two years ago James fell in love with the Emerald Night Train set, retailing at $100. In an attempt to teach James financial responsibility, his parents told him he would have to save up his money in order to buy the train set.
By the time he had saved up the money for the train set, it had been discontinued. James’s parents did their best to locate the train set, even searching internet bidding sites, but found that the train set is now only available for more than double its price.
James decided to write a letter to LEGO to see if they had any in their warehouse or any other ideas of where he could get the train set. In the letter, James explained his love of LEGO products listing off numerous sets that he has been playing with for years. He told the company that for two years he had saved all the money he received for his birthday, holidays, allowance and even money he got for participating in a research project.
LEGO originally responded to the letter confirming they did not have anymore. Then, just two days before his eleventh birthday, a package arrived. Inside was the brand-new Emerald Night Train set that James had been coveting for so long.
There was also a heart-warming letter from the employees at LEGO. They thanked James for his loyalty and patience, explaining it was fans like James that made the LEGO Company so lucky.
The family filmed James’s reaction and uploaded the joyful occasion to YouTube. James and his entire family were ecstatic; even his younger brother can be seen wiping away tears from his eyes.
It is not very often that a company will go to these lengths to make their customer’s dreams come true. Sign the petition to thank LEGO for their continued devotion to customer service and for restoring faith in humanity.
