Save Borneo’s Tropical Rainforests

Target: Siti Nurbaya Bakar, Minister of Environment and Forestry, Indonesia

Goal: Protect Borneo’s tropical rainforests by bringing an end to their deforestation.

In just over 40 years, more than 45 percent of Borneo’s lush, tropical rainforests have been destroyed by deforestation. Borneo’s rainforests are home to some of the rarest plant and animal life in the world, including the pygmy elephants and the Bornean orangutans.

Borneo’s rainforests are such an important piece of our planet. They are are home to rare and endangered animals and they absorb harmful CO2 from our atmosphere. However, if they are continuously destroyed, they will soon release more carbon than they store, worsening our planet’s living conditions and the carbon footprint we leave on the world.

This harmful deforestation must be brought to an end immediately. With their rare plant and animal life, as well as their important role in our planet’s carbon cycle, the rainforests of Borneo are too valuable to be lost. Sign the petition to demand that deforestation brought to an end.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Minister Bakar,

The rainforests of Borneo are home to some of the world’s rarest plant and animal species. They also play an important role in our planet’s health and future by absorbing the harmful CO2 that collects in our atmosphere.

These rainforests ensure that the future of our planet is both long and healthy; however, deforestation is destroying these rainforests and the benefits they provide. This destruction must be brought to an end immediately. I demand that further deforestation in Borneo be banned.

Sincerely,
