American Express: Stop Using Exotic Animal Skins as Rewards

Target: Kenneth Chenault, CEO of American Express

Goal: Stop American Express from offering exotic animal skins as rewards.

American Express, a popular credit card company, offers customers exotic animal skins in its rewards program. This inhumane practice needs to be put to an end rather than supported.

Alligators, crocodiles, snakes, lizards, and ostriches trapped on farms typically live short, miserable lives and are deprived of everything natural to them. The animals are barbarically killed, typically by having their necks slit or broken, by electrocution, or by severing their spinal cords. Unfortunately, many of the animals are still alive while they are being skinned.

Sign this petition and demand American Express stop offering customers animals skins as a reward. There are many other things American Express can offer as rewards that do not require innocent animals dying.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Chenault,

It recently came to my attention that your company offers exotic animal skins as rewards to customers in your credit card program. The lives of animals used for skin are typically filled with misery and fear. It is time to stop supporting this cruel practice.

Alligators, snakes, lizards, ostriches, and other animals trapped on exotic skin farms face unimaginable cruelty daily. Their lives are cut drastically short, and they are typically killed in barbaric ways, including neck-breaking, electrocution, severing the spine, or slitting the throat. Sometimes these methods do not work, and the animal will still be alive while they are being skinned.

Please consider no longer offering exotic skins as rewards. Animals should not die for needless objects. There are many cruelty-free alternatives your company can use as rewards.

Sincerely,

  3. Fur/Leather are the result from animal suffering. All anybody has to do is google videos such as “fur in 60 seconds,” to get a glimpse of how bad fur really is. I also think that has people learn more about the animal abuse in various industries, the less they support it. It is of course, the right thing to do.
