Raccoons Allegedly Drowned in Barrel of Water Deserve Justice

Target: Jeffrey A. Manning, Judge for Allegheny County, Pennsylvania

Goal: Demand that the man who allegedly drowned raccoons in a barrel of water receive the maximum penalty by law.

Several raccoons were allegedly trapped and drowned in a barrel of water in a shocking case of animal cruelty. The suspect claimed that he viewed the raccoons as vermin and that he was only disposing of them as he would with any pest. Demand justice for these poor raccoons.

“A raccoon is very different from a cockroach, lice or some insect,” stated Deputy District Attorney Jennifer DiGiovanni as part of her case against William Killgallon. Killgallon reportedly baited traps with tomatoes, peanut butter, bread, and lunch meat and then drowned the trapped raccoons in a barrel of water. Per police, Killgallon would sometimes trap wild animals and set them free, but he had a strong dislike for raccoons and chose to kill them. The defense argued that raccoons are nuisance animals, like vermin, and that vermin can be disposed of without legal consequence. If this defense is accepted, then it sets a dangerous precedent and demeans any future legal protection for raccoons.

The decision of whether to punish Killgallon for his alleged actions has been left up to Judge Jeffrey A. Manning. Sign below to demand that Judge Manning keep in mind the precedent that would be set for the welfare of raccoons as he delivers his verdict.

Dear Judge Manning,

Several raccoons suffered and died when they were allegedly drowned in a barrel of water. The suspect reportedly disliked raccoons and claimed that they were merely vermin meant for disposal. We demand justice for these poor raccoons.

Police arrested William Killgallon and charged him with animal cruelty after he allegedly trapped and drowned multiple raccoons. Per police, Killgallon trapped wild animals and sometimes set them free, but preferred to kill the raccoons simply because he disliked them and saw them as vermin. His defense argued that most people would find raccoons to be nuisance-causing animals worthy of disposal. Even if this were true, drowning is not a humane method of disposal and Killgallon’s alleged actions caused undue pain and suffering to innocent raccoons.

This cruelty cannot go unpunished. We demand that you keep the welfare of raccoons in mind as you consider this case.

“If a man aspires towards a righteous life, his first act of abstinence is from injury to animals.” Albert Einstein

“Compassion for animals is intimately connected with goodness of character; and it may be confidently asserted that he who is cruel to animals cannot be a good man.” Authur Schopenhauer

“If you have men who will exclude any of God’s creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow men.” St. Francis of Assisi

  2. William Killgallon is the real vermin here! We must learn to coexist with our animal friends!

  3. This is wrong and clearly animal abuse. We can’t even imagine the anguish and suffering the animal must have suffered due to this person’s actions. The person who did this should be tried, at the least…

  4. This is an ignorant POS who lacks compassion and who has set himself up as judge for which animals deserve to live, and which are “vermin” and deserve to die. He could very easily decide to kill someone’s cat or dog, if he in his opinion that animal was “vermin”. LOCK HIM UP! Not safe to be on the loose.

  5. I have known many people who love raccoons, (as myself) including my aunt who fed and played with them along with her dogs and cats, for many years. Although they are wild animals and should, usually, just be left alone, the are very smart and funny–feel emotions and suffer from pain. They are not roaches! They are mammals!
Animal rescue groups save them when they are hurting. They deserve respect and care.
William Killgallon is a monster, a sociopath without empathy or compassion! These poor animals experienced immense suffering because of this freak’s cruelty toward a wonderful animal he did not like or understand. What other animal will he decide to trap, torture and kill next–someone’s dog or cat or another wild creature that he doesn’t like?!
He is a danger to ALL animals! Any human(?) who can cause such suffering to a living being belongs in prison for a long time. He should receive multiple criminal felony charges for animal cruelty–and maximum severe penalty!
