Tell Mitt Romney to Move on From His Presidential Loss

Target: Governor Mitt Romney

Goal: Stop making excuses for losing presidential election, and help to advance America as a leader of the Republican Party

Former Governor and Presidential candidate Mitt Romney is making a lot of excuses for his loss against President Barack Obama. In recorded conversations with top campaign donors, Romney insults the majority of American voters claiming they were bought with President Obama’s “gifts” of contraceptives, student loan forgiveness, Obamacare and other financial gifts from the government. Please sign this petition and encourage Romney to concede eloquently, stop putting his foot in his mouth, and focus on rebuilding the unfavorable Republican Party.

As Mitt Romney explains his defeat to top donors who helped his campaign raise over a billion dollars (2012 was the most expensive campaign in history), he is making excuses for his loss rather than learning from American voices. Various news outlets have aired audio of Romney’s insulting justification for President Obama’s win.

According to Romney, “What the president, president’s campaign did was focus on certain members of his base coalition, give them extraordinary financial gifts from the government, and then work very aggressively to turn them out to vote.”

Romney, who lost to President Obama by 126 electoral votes, said the president courted voters by offering policies that appealed to key constituencies. Romney goes on to say, “With regards to the young people, for instance, a forgiveness of college loan interest, was a big gift,” and, “free contraceptives were very big with young college-aged women.”

He concludes by saying, “Obamacare also made a difference for them, because as you know, anybody now 26 years of age and younger was now going to be part of their parents’ plan, and that was a big gift to young people.”

Romney seems to be confusing “gifts” with policies people agree with and see as beneficial for themselves and their family. The “gifts” Romney offered only benefited a small portion of American’s who make a substantial amount of money, unfortunately, those benefits would not be enjoyed by the majority. Rather than continuing to choke on the foot that has been down his throat since the infamous “47 percent” video, it is time for Romney to rally his party with the goal of uniting elected officials to get America back on track.

Please sign this petition and urge Mitt Romney to move on from the election, insults and blame, and be the leader that the Republican Party believed he could be.

Dear Governor Romney,

Your recent comments regarding President Obama’s use of “gifts” in order to win the presidential election are insulting, sad, and further divide you and the Republican Party from the majority of Americans. It is time for you to eloquently concede and move on from the election.

Not even a month ago you were the GOP’s leader, now more and more Republican officials are distancing themselves from you and your candid remarks. Please use your fame to unite our elected officials, regardless of Party lines, in order to get American back on track, just like you said during the campaign.

President Obama believed in and promoted a set of policies that would benefit low income workers, young people, and minorities. These “gifts” as you call them are policies that the majority of American’s agreed with. Your observation that President Obama’s campaign worked “aggressively” to promote voting is absolutely correct, and is the reason you both were campaigning; to get people to vote. Despite your efforts you are not the President, and so I encourage you to move on and continue working for America.

Please use your position to lead the Republican Party into negotiations with Democrats and start accomplishing things for the American people. We need leaders like yourself to promote movement, accomplishment, and unity among our leaders.

He lost and now he needs to deal with it and stop acting so petulant and obstructive. This ISN’T about him or his own bruised ego , but about helping this country get back on track and paying attention to the 99% and their concerns for once in his life.
