Target: Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook
Goal: Ensure that Facebook deletes the support page for a charged murderer
Recently, a mother of three, Marina Krim, found two of her young children stabbed to death in the bathtub. Their nanny, Yoselyn Ortega, was sitting in the bathroom next to them with self-inflicted wounds. She was later charged with first and second degree murder for both deaths. Since the story ran rampant on the news, a Facebook page was created in support of Ortega’s “innocence.” For the matter of respect and decency, please demand that Facebook deactivate this support page.
Though the motive for the murders is currently unknown, new released details state that Ortega and Krim apparently had an argument a day before the children were found murdered. Further investigation and conversations with Ortega illustrate a strained relationship between the Manhattan nanny and the mother of three. These various disagreements were confirmed during Ortega’s interview as she attempted to portray the mother in a bad light.
All this new information is shocking to hear since Ortega had been the nanny of these three children for two years. The family and the nanny were so close that they even took a vacation to her native land of the Dominican Republic. However, sources said that Ortega showed no signs of remorse or sadness for the deaths of these two children during her interrogation.
The U.S. is a country where one is innocent until proven guilty and the first amendment is regarded highly. However, to blatantly create a Facebook page to show support for a suspected murderer of two children is insensitive and inappropriate. Demand that Facebook delete the support page for an alleged murderer.
Dear Mark Zuckerberg,
Facebook has become a revolutionary social network platform. Though it has become a website where we can connect and reconnect with people from all over the world, it can also display insensitive and inappropriate information that can cause more harm than good in the process.
For instance, after the murder of two innocent children, Yoselyn Ortega was charged with two counts of murder and then a Facebook page was created to defend the innocence of Ortega.
Though freedom of speech is an important aspect of our nation, as well as the Internet, a support page for an alleged murderer is indecent. The case is still ongoing and there have already been numerous amounts of evidence against Ortega.
Do not allow these supporters to take advantage of the platform of your company offers. The family and their only living child do not deserve to suffer from more pain from ignorant and insensitive people. Please remove the support page for a charged murderer from Facebook.
