Target: Eugene A. Vittone II, District Attorney for Washington County, Pennsylvania

Goal: Demand that the woman who allegedly abandoned four dogs without food or water, leading to the death of one, receive the maximum penalty by law.

One dog died and three more suffered when they were allegedly abandoned without access to food or water. The dogs were reportedly severely underweight and lived amongst their own feces and urine. Demand justice for these innocent dogs.

Washington Area Humane Society police searched Tammy Barnhart’s property after they received reports of dogs living in and around the abandoned house. Per officers, one dog was chained up outside and had no access to food or water. Inside, they reportedly found two malnourished dogs living in urine, feces, and garbage and a third dog actively seizing. A veterinary exam confirmed that all four dogs suffered from severe dehydration and flea infestation.

The seizing dog was rushed to Pittsburgh Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center, but had to be euthanized. The surviving dogs’ locations and conditions are unreported. Barnhart was charged with three counts of neglect of animals and one count of felony animal cruelty. Sign below and demand that Barnhart receive the maximum penalty by law, if convicted.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear District Attorney Vittone,

Four dogs were allegedly neglected and denied access to food and water in a shocking case of animal cruelty. One dog reportedly suffered from seizures so severe that the poor animal had to be euthanized. We demand justice for these innocent dogs.

Washington Area Humane Society police charged Tammy Barnhart with felony animal cruelty after she allegedly failed to provide food, water, and adequate shelter for four dogs on her property. Per officers, the dogs were malnourished, dehydrated, flea infested, and one had a large open wound on the chest. The house was reportedly filled with urine, feces, and garbage and the dogs were chained to various areas of the house and property, unable to escape.

This horrific neglect must be punished. We demand that you seek the maximum penalty in this case.

Sincerely,
