Demand CEO Step Down for Threatening Employees’ Right to Vote

Target: Mike White, CEO of Rite-Hite

Goal: To have Mike White step down as CEO of Rite-Hite for encouraging his employees to vote for a particular presidential candidate

The right to vote has been greatly emphasized in the 2012 election. Although the election is now over and the nation has decided on its president, there are still some issues that need to be addressed. Prior to Election Day, Mike White, CEO of Rite-Hite, urged his employees via email to vote for a particular presidential candidate.

White sent out an email to all of his employees stating that “personal consequences” will take place if Barack Obama were to be re-elected. He strongly emphasized that President Obama’s plan for increased taxes would affect them directly in a negative manner. While this email focuses primarily on the negative aspects of President Obama’s re-election, it is quite clear that White was pressuring his employees to vote for Romney.

Threatening and intimidating employees to encourage them to vote for a particular presidential candidate is extremely unprofessional. It is also illegal for any employer to influence his employees in such a manner. White’s threats to his employees violate their rights as American citizens to vote for the candidate they personally believe is more qualified; his actions are not reflective of a republic or a democracy, but of tyranny.

Action must be taken against White for the injustice he has committed against his employees. He should no longer be allowed to continue as the CEO of Rite-Hite. He has shown that he is completely irresponsible and unprofessional while acting as the company’s CEO; he has demonstrated that he has no qualms about abusing his power. Prevent White from further abusing his power and his employees’ rights. Sign the petition below to demand that Mike White step down as CEO of Rite-Hite.


Dear Mr. White,

You have done a great injustice to your employees by threatening their legal right to vote. Prior to Election Day, you sent out an email that highly suggests your employees should vote for a particular presidential candidate. This email threatens your employees to be wary of “personal consequences” if Barack Obama were to be re-elected. As the CEO of Rite-Hite, you have acted in an extremely unprofessional manner.

You have crossed the line between employer and employee. As an employer, there are things in your employees’ lives you have no authority over. Who your employees choose to vote for is, quite frankly, none of your business. I am urging you to acknowledge that you have done wrong in intimidating your employees into voting for your candidate of choice. Please take action to stop abusing your power and step down as CEO.
