Dog Shot and Killed with Arrow Deserves Justice

Target: Jonathan R. Liberman, District Attorney for Knox County, Maine

Goal: Demand that the person who shot and killed a dog with a bow and arrow be charged and receive the maximum penalty by law.

A dog was shot and killed with a bow and arrow while on a walk near a dog park. Per officials, the arrow went straight through the dog’s chest and has not yet been found. Demand justice for this poor dog.

“It just drops you to the floor. When I learned about what had actually transpired, it turned into grief mixed with anger,” stated Ed Joy, Peppermint’s owner. Peppermint, a border collie, was walking in a dog park with her dog sitter when she was struck in the chest by an arrow. The sitter found Peppermint lying underneath a tree with a hole in her chest. Peppermint ultimately died, and a necropsy was done to determine her cause of death.

Thomaston Police are investigating this incident as possible animal cruelty. The Joy’s have offered a $1,000 reward to anyone who can provide information leading to the identification of the person responsible. Sign below and demand that the person who shot Peppermint be identified, charged, and given the maximum penalty by law.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear District Attorney Liberman,

A dog died after she was shot with a bow and arrow. The dog was found under a tree with a hole in her chest. We demand justice for this innocent dog.

Peppermint, a five-and-a-half-year-old border collie, was playing in a dog park with her dog sitter when she suddenly disappeared. The sitter searched the park and found Peppermint lying under a tree with a gaping hole in her chest. Per officials, Peppermint was shot clean through with an arrow, which likely resulted in her death. Police have not found the arrow or the person who shot Peppermint, but they are investigating. Peppermint’s family is devastated, and they have offered a reward in return for the identification of the person responsible.

This cruelty cannot go unpunished. We demand that you prosecute the person responsible and seek the maximum penalty in this case.

Sincerely,
