Target: Minneapolis Animal Care and Control
Goal: Stop killing animals that can still be rescued or adopted
Shelter animals are greatly disadvantaged when it comes to finding a good home. There is often a time limit placed on these animals due to overcrowding and insufficient funding. Instead of contributing to the survival of shelter animals, Minneapolis Animal Care and Control (MACC) is killing animals that still have the chance to be rescued or adopted.
MACC is notoriously known for killing healthy and innocent animals. They claim that they “don’t have the time to work with rescues.” Often times there are rescue organizations and interested individuals who are willing to save these animals from being killed. Despite the interest being shown for these animals, MACC still proceeds to kill them. There is no logic behind these senseless killings. If rescue organizations and individuals are willing to save the animals from the shelter, MACC should allow these animals to be surrendered to them. It is absolutely pointless and cruel to kill healthy animals when they have been given the opportunity to go to a rescue organization or a good home.
The continued practice of killing animals that have a chance to be rescued and adopted is extremely unethical. MACC has committed several acts of useless murder. Because there is no excuse not to save these animals, it appears that MACC is killing these animals just to kill them. In addition to killing animals that have been arranged to go to a rescue or to be adopted, there have been instances in which a shelter was not even full but animals were murdered regardless of the shelter’s capacity. The treatment of these animals is completely inhumane; more responsibility should be exercised when the lives of animals are involved. The lack of empathy and compassion from MACC suggests that this organization simply does not care about the lives and welfare of animals.
The senseless and useless murder of healthy and innocent animals can no longer continue. Give these shelter animals a better chance of survival and enable them to go to rescue organizations and interested adopters. Sign the petition below to demand MACC stop killing healthy animals.
Dear Minneapolis Animal Care and Control,
You must stop killing healthy animals at your shelters. I find it extremely disturbing that you continue to kill these animals in cold blood. Some of the animals you have murdered had a second chance at life outside of your shelters; rescue organizations and interested individuals were willing to take these animals from your shelter. It seems pointless and cruel to kill these animals when other parties have already shown interest in them.
It is extremely irresponsible to kill countless healthy animals because you “don’t have the time to work with rescues.” Not having the time for these animals is not a justifiable excuse to kill them. There appears to be no logic behind killing these animals, especially when they already have rescue organizations and individuals who are willing to take them. It appears that you are killing these helpless animals just to kill them. I am urging you to change your policies regarding your shelters’ rescue animals. Please take the action to give these animals a better chance at life; stop senselessly killing these animals.
