Stop Government From Price Gouging National Park Visitors

Target: Donald Trump

Goal: Don’t price gouge visitors to National Parks in order to pay for massive budget cuts.

The National Park Service has proposed a nearly threefold increase in entry fees at 17 popular park destinations while proposing a massive budget. While the Park Service is badly in need of additional funds to maintain and repair its aging infrastructure, many are concerned that charging $70 for vehicles to enter parks will prevent a large percentage of people from visiting them. Action must be taken to demand that the Trump administration and Congress ensure that these parks remain accessible for as many visitors as possible.

President Trump has so far done everything within his power to strip the National Park Service and public lands of much needed funding. This new proposal, coming from Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke, who has been flying around the country on private jets paid for by the taxpayers, reflects the fact that with a slashed budget the parks must begin to charge outrageous fees to its visitors. This is unfair and will deny many families the opportunity to enjoy our public lands.

Our parks deserve to be maintained and preserved for future generations to enjoy, but must also remain accessible to the people they are meant to serve. Sign this petition to urge the government not to price gouge visitors just to pay for a massive budget cut that will help the wealthiest Americans.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Donald Trump,

The National Park Service is being starved of much-needed funds thanks to your administration and Congress. In order to cover the shortfall, there is a proposed threefold increase in entry fees that will force families to pay $70 just to enter some parks. Both the parks and the people deserve better, and it is your responsibility to ensure that this beloved institution remains intact for the future.

Already, your administration has made plans to open up public lands, including national parks, to drilling and mining interests. Now your administration is saying that only rich people should be able to afford to visit our national parks. We urge you to reconsider your priorities and ensure that the parks remain in the hands of the people they are intended for, and demand that you tell Congress to provide the funding necessary to maintain and care for our national parks.

Sincerely,

This is the Trump administrations way of lowering attendance to our national parks so they can drill for oil. This is about profit for the republican base. The pro oil congress. Call your representatives and tell them hands off our national parks.

    • Tina, to put it bluntly, you are so full of shit you can’t see straight. Our parks have been underfunded for many years of demo and repub administrations and obumma simply added several more places to the list. I bet you wouldn’t think twice of taking your family to the movies and spending seventy bucks, would you? Been to Disneyland recently? An NFL football game? Get off your anti-trump bandwagon and support our National Parks. A Senior Pass is now eighty dollars and it’s a freaking bargain!!
