Justice for Dog Starved, Dehydrated, and Left for Dead

Target: Shane Scanlon, District Attorney for Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania

Goal: Demand that the person who deprived a dog of food and water, leading to her death, receive the maximum penalty by law.

A dog was starved and left for dead in a shocking case of animal cruelty. The dog’s ribs showed through her skin, and she suffered from a severe infection that eventually took her life. Demand justice for this poor dog.

“We are devastated about her loss, and we will not let Hope pass over the rainbow bridge without justice.” This statement, made on Griffin Pond Animal Shelter’s Facebook page, followed a heartbreaking fight to save this malnourished and neglected dog. Rescued from Scranton’s east side, the black lab mix was so weak that she could not sustain her body temperature. Hope suffered from a severe infection and could barely walk. Though the veterinarian worked hard to save Hope, her illness eventually took her life.

Griffin Pond Animal Shelter is investigating this case as animal cruelty. They have not identified any suspects yet and have asked for the public’s assistance. Sign below and demand that the person responsible be charged with animal cruelty and receive the maximum penalty by law.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear District Attorney Scanlon,

A dog suffered and eventually died when she was starved and denied medical care. The dog’s bones showed through her skin, and she could barely walk due to weakness and a severe infection. We demand justice for this innocent dog.

Hope, a black lab mix, lost her life after she was denied food, water, and badly needed medical care. Found on Scranton’s east side, Hope suffered from severe malnutrition and an infection that made her too weak to walk or sustain a healthy body temperature. Veterinarians gave Hope only a ten percent chance of survival, and she eventually succumbed to her illness. The investigators with Griffin Pond Animal Shelter believe that Hope was either dumped or lived close by to where she was found. They have not identified any suspects yet, but are investigating this case as animal cruelty.

This horrific abuse must be punished. We demand that you seek the maximum penalty in this case.

Sincerely,

Just horrible. No reason to not feed your dog. Slow, awful death. I hope they find the owners and arrest them. Rest in peace Hope 🙁
