Stop Horrific ‘Maximum-Pain’ Experiments on Puppies

Target: Doug Bannerman, Ph.D., Executive Director of the Office of Research Oversight in the Department of Veterans Affairs

Goal: Demand that researchers stop doing cruel and painful maximum-pain experiments on innocent dogs.

Four dogs died and many suffered when they were subjected to cruel medical experiments in a taxpayer-funded Veterans Affairs research project. Researchers induced heart attacks and surgically implanted pacemakers into the dogs, allowing them to suffer pain as part of the experiment. Demand justice for these innocent dogs.

The Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center came under intense scrutiny after the research facility conducted maximum-pain experiments on puppies as young as six months. Maximum-pain experiments are experiments in which significant pain is induced and is intentionally not relieved. As part of a study on human cardiac abnormalities, the dogs were subjected to heart attacks, forced to run on treadmills, and were implanted with pacemakers. Four dogs died due to mistakes made during surgery and many more were euthanized.

The primary researcher on the project has already been barred from working on animals but he remains as a cardiologist at the Maguire VA. The VA maintains that animal experimentation is beneficial and necessary to scientific research. Sign below and demand that the VA stop using dogs as research subjects in maximum-pain experiments.

Dear Executive Director Bannerman,

Four dogs died and many more suffered when they were subjected to painful experiments at the Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The dogs were used in maximum-pain experiments and denied pain relief. We demand justice for these innocent dogs.

Puppies as young as six months were subjected to severe pain and suffering without relief in a taxpayer-funded cardiac research project. They were forced to run on treadmills, given heart attacks, and implanted with pacemakers. Mistakes in surgery took the lives of four dogs and many more endured unalleviated pain and suffering before they were euthanized. Maximum-pain experiments are unnecessarily cruel and companion animals should not be subjected to such torture.

We demand that you stop doing maximum-pain experiments on dogs at McGuire VA and nationwide immediately.

  1. Is this for real????This is 2017 and this shit still goes on??? What the f— is going on here????

  2. kim hadleigh says:

What the hell is wrong with people?!! How do these “researchers” sleep at night knowing they have inflicted pain on such innocent creatures? Heart breaking and truly disturbing.

  3. Jeannie Stopak says:

We have plenty of incarcerated murderers that tortured other people that we could perform these tests on. Why inflict pain on innocent pure hearted animals? I don’t get it.

  4. it’s about time to use the child abusers, murderers for any experiments. What is wrong with all the science killing the innocent animals. There are enough of trashy humans who are waiting on the dead row. Use animal abusers for the experiments. 20TH Century and we still use these poor , innocent animals for the experiments. How all those people can sleep at night if they know there is an animal suffering in pain inflicted with some crap. Unbelievable. Shame on all of those who hurt the animals for the experiments when the technology is on such a high level. Shame on You people!

  5. This is sickening and disgusting, its shocking how some people have no moral compass, may karma get these bastards that are torturing these poor animals

  6. Adriana Thomas says:

These systematic mestreat of animals needs to stop once for al!!!

  7. Death for these cruel fuckers but in slow pain.

  8. Kae Blecha, OTR says:

In no way are these cruel experiments relevant to the study of humans. There is increasing validity in the scientific community for the “Mind-Body Connection.” These poor puppies can’t possibly replicate that part of the human experience when they’re so frightened and can’t understand why sadists in white coats make them do this shit.

  9. Why don’t they do these “experiments” on the murderers, rapists and baby killers that are sitting in jail or on death row whom tax payers are PAYING for so they can eat, watch tv, work out and just be able to breath, or would that be considered INHUMANE to do to a rotten, evil sick, demented, sadistic subhuman? But it’s ok to do it to an INNOCENT dog?? Really? How fucked up is that? These people’s priorities are so ass backwards!! Many dogs lives are worth far more than humans! Get it straight!!!

  10. Bonnie Burkhardt says:

Bannerman-you useless Coward!we already know the answers to these cruel and and useless experiments! This shows you are incompetent! Demand your license be taken away!Demanding tax payer monies stopped be used!People sign petitions!

  11. Kathy Khoshfahm says:

Doug – I can’t believe my hard earned tax dollars are being spent on torturing dogs and puppies! WTF! The Animal Kingdom are citizens of this Earth too and these experiments are barbaric to say the least. Please use your power and position to stop this bulls _ _ _ now! Unfreaking believable…

Bannerman shouldn’t be allowed around animals ever again, nor anybody that does those sadistic, psychotic things to any animal under any name: “research” etc.

    He shouldn’t be teaching either.

  13. Nature treats back now
    Take responsibility for your cruelty
Take responsibility for your Being on Earth

  14. Science has become increasing sadistic. Animals are sentient beings and feel pain just as much, or even more than humans, because they are finely attuned to their feelings, which humans are increasingly denying. Scientists who can inflict such atrocity on these poor animals are totally denatured; and dehumanized. Why don’t they use themselves to experiment on?
