Dog With Leash Allegedly Embedded Into His Neck Deserves Justice

Target: William J. Fitzpatrick, District Attorney for Onondaga County, New York

Goal: Demand that the woman who allegedly forced her dog to wear a tight leash for so long that it became embedded into the dog’s neck receive the maximum penalty by law.

A dog suffered when he was allegedly forced to wear a tight leash around his neck for a dangerously long time. The leash reportedly became embedded in the dog’s neck and he developed an infected wound. Demand justice for this poor dog.

Animal cruelty investigators rescued the 1-year-old pit bull after he ran out in front of a Department of Environmental Conservation vehicle. Per investigators, the dog had a leash tightly wrapped around his neck and was not wearing a collar. It seems that the leash must have been in place for a long time as it had apparently become embedded into the dog’s neck, creating a large infected wound.

The Central New York SPCA took the dog into their custody and he is healing well. The dog’s owner, Maria DePalma, was located and charged with multiple animal cruelty charges, including failure to provide veterinary care. Sign below and demand that DePalma receive the maximum penalty by law, if convicted.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear District Attorney Fitzpatrick,

A dog was allegedly forced to wear a tight leash for so long that it became embedded into his neck. He reportedly developed an infected wound due to a lack of veterinary care. We demand justice for this poor dog.

Investigators charged the dog’s owner, Maria DePalma, with animal cruelty after she allegedly forced the 1-year-old pit bull to wear a leash around his neck for a dangerously long time. The leash was reportedly wrapped tightly around the dog’s neck and worked as a makeshift collar. Per investigators, the leash became embedded into the dog’s skin and created a painful infected wound that went untreated. The dog is no longer in DePalma’s custody and is recovering with the help of the Central New York SPCA.

This horrific abuse must be punished. We demand that you seek the maximum penalty in this case.

Sincerely,

There are so many great quotes about the compassionate and ethical treatment of animals. Why don’t we listen?

  3. Maria DePalma Should be Charged for a Felony! Nor should she Ever be Allowed to Adopt or Buy any Animals! What she did is horrible and beyond cruel! What comes around goes around, and eventually she will get what is comng to her -BAD KARMA! Plus more!

    • Agree. Thoughtless, wicked cretin- “if only they could talk”. we could imprison the owners if the evidence was there. How could people walk on by? They are as bad

It’s a disgrace that anyone who saw this dog did not call the authorities. The woman responsible should be charged.

How long do you have to have a chain around your neck before it becomes embedded in your neck?. Don’t you even check on the Dog?. What do you have it for?. Give the Dog to someone who will give it the loving life it deserves.

Put the monster woman in jail and never let her around animals or children!

When I see stories about horrible animal abuse, I really feel “and eye for an eye” is warranted.

We rescued a cat with the same problem. His people abandoned him as a kitten, and his collar grew into his neck. Our vet worked wonders to help him survive. Neighbors also knew about him, and did nothing. By the time we moved to the area, Buster had a very nasty infection. He was a great cat, and did not deserve that pain. Neither does this dog – no animal does.

  11. SOMEONE MUST KNOW WHO THIS POOR DOG BELONGS TO, THEY SHOULD BE MADE TO PAY DEARLY FOR THIS CRIME, AND NEVER ALOUD TO OWN ANY ANIMAL IN THE FUTURE, SICK BASTARD, THE LAW NEVER SEEMS TO TAKE ANIMAL CRUELTY VERY SERIOUSLY, WELL IT IS ABOUT TIME THE LAW CAUGHT UP WITH WHAT IS GOING ON.

  12. Kathy Khoshfahm says:

Bill – Please use your power and position to prosecute this POS Maria DePalma to the fullest extent allowed by law. Show the world that Onondaga County WILL NOT TOLERATE animal abuse!!
